Eriksen unhappy with lack of game time

Christian Eriksen: “I’ve had a talk with Erik about being unhappy with the situation and wanting to play as much as possible".

“He said Kobbie Mainoo is doing well, and the rest of the midfield is also performing well, so there is competition for places".

“Of course, you can be concerned in the long run because I want to play as much as possible. You don't want to always sit on the bench"

No issues with what he said as we was respectful but he’s not good enough to be getting lots of minutes anymore.

It’s beginning to remind me of the Mata situation where he’s still technically decent but his legs have gone pretty early in his career.

He would be one of the 1st I would move in the summer.

We wouldn’t have been in the CL this season without Casemiro.

We wouldn’t have a league cup either.

Casemiro is still a quality player, who has been hindered
by injury, suspension and low-quality teammates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The suspensions have been his own fault. He has been one of the low quality team mates since last March.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Still a quality player Bro.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why hasn’t he shown it in a year then? Certainly one of the best DM’s of his generation but off the pace and past it now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He has. I'm not sure what you expect from him.

Maybe you or I should do a thread on him once he is back from injury so we can pay close attention to his performance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I expect a DM who doesn’t constantly give the ball away and gets ran past numerous times in each game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you’d seen us play you’d realise how exposed Casemiro is.

I wasn't crazy about the signing of Casemiro: an expensive (also taking into account the salary) short-term move, and not the ball-playing, press-resistant playmaker we had obviously prioritised. But I can't help liking the guy. His professionalism, competitiveness and experience were important to the cultural reset ETH needed. God knows that reset hasn't been complete, but it was visible last season and I think we'd be flakier still with plenty of the alternatives we might have brought in. Like others, I think the younger players in the squad will benefit from the experience of playing and training with him long after he has left. On balance that probably doesn't justify the investment we made, but I don't think it's an unmitigated disaster of a signing.

Also - and I acknowledge this is a less substantive point - I can't help but warm to his cheeky face, and particularly the look of astounded innocence he produces after hacking someone down.

Back to Eriksen, does he really think he deserves more game time?

Surely, he must realise how poor he has become.

I didn't read his comments as him having a moan. Seemed like the reference to the competition for places was acknowledgement that his lack of playing time wasn't unreasonable. Any player will be open that they aren't happy on the bench, and it would be a more worrying sign if they showed no hunger to play.

I saw a clip recently of Eriksen, meeting with Jose and Levy. Im guessing its from their Netflix or Prime fly on the wall programme

Essentially, it's Erilsen asking when his mocr to Inter will go through, and Levy explaining what it will take, for the move to happen.

It was refreshing to see how professional it all was and how little emotion was involved in the discussion.

Wouldn't surprise me if Eriksen had had an offer and is weighing up his future.

Mainoo has plenty to improve out of possession but he’s still head and shoulders above Eriksen already.

Not seen him in yonks, but from the sound of it Eriksen might still be able to make an impact at a Europa League-level Spanish or Italian clubs.

On Casemiro, I remember discussing him here saying that he'd started to look a bit over the hill, but was delighted to read he was doing so well last season.

I'm aware he dropped off towards the end, and that he hasn't got back to his best this year either, but Process, your fixation has been ongoing since the signing was made, and have lain into him at the slightest opportunity, whilst also minimising his positive contributions.

A player can never be as bad as you try to make out when a number of fellow fans have him down as one of the best performers for a good part of the season.

Don't get me wrong, it was a fabulous sale for us, but I'd also have gladly kept him on to mentor our young defensive midfielders too.

Casemiro, Martinez and Rashford were are most important players last season. I’d say Casemiro was the best of the 3 but you could easily pick any of them.

I get Casemiro wasn’t a brilliant signing and it was a lot to spend on someone his age but I don’t think you perfectly predicted anything tbh. Who did you want us to get that summer instead?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He spent all of last season on here with egg on his face over Casemiro. He has hated him since the moment he signed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I read his post and just chuckled. I remember how the team struggled without Casemiro.

One thing about this board is that some egos cannot deal with being wrong.
