Goal difference...

Back in the 1952/53 season, we won the title on goal average. More famously, in 88/89, we won the title on goals scored. It is very rare for the season to be decided on anything but points, although Manchester City also did it in 11/12.
The last time we achieved a 50+ goal difference was the season after the invincible season, with a +51 goal difference. That is the only PL season we have finished with an over 50 gd.
Our highest post-war gd was +56 in the near-Invincible season in 90/91 under George Graham. There are actually a lot of similarities between Graham's pre-Wright sides and Artetas Arsenal so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise I guess.

We are also not far off our best scoring season in a 38 game campaign. That stands at 88 - achieved last season. Could even break our post-war record of 90 goals which was over 42 games. All without any player really standing out in terms of individual tallies.
Of course our best defensive record (17) has gone. Would be nice to beat the Invincible total of 26 though... 🫣

With 7 games to go we will hopefully improve that gd. The odds on gd being decisive are very low, but obviously the more times you score and the fewer times you concede the more games you win.

If you guys sign a proper striker next year, say a Gyokeres then you’ve an incredibly complete team with Timber to have a season at right back in place of Love Island boy.

I think we fall away a fair bit without Klopp next year as we don’t have the money to compete without him, so hoping we beat you to the title this year as we won’t have a chance for a while.

Ben White has been one of our best players this season.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Timber is deployed at LB next season. He looked great there, the little we've seen of him so far.

He’s a massive cvnt though

Yeah, Timber seems made for the left back role. Would mean we could invert from both sides during the game, as Timber is more than capable of being the 3rd man of the back 3 when White does it from the right.

A modern day Smith would be very interesting in this team. It is obvious what qualities Havertz brings - his winning of "aerial duels" is far superior to any attacker we have had under Arteta. Don't know that much about Gyokeres or Sesko, the two currently most linked, but if they can do that job then it is a from me.

And we here all love him for it too!

It is good for us that people are beginning to hate our players rather than just mock them. We have come a long way in a couple of years.

I did always think Havertz would do miles better for you than Chelsea as they are such a car crash of a football club and so it’s proving.

Same reason I’d like us to cherry pick a couple of their players, so much talent just under god awful leadership.

Why is he though? I grant you I didn't like his antics yesterday but in general he's carried himself very well and rumour is that he's been playing with a knee injury for months so you can't question his dedication to the cause. The only other thing is the England situation and quite frankly I'd say fair play to him if I was good enough to play for England I wouldn't want to play under that amateur of a manager.

Ben White is known to be a prickly character. I always like a couple of those types in the squad. They don't like losing or giving it one to the opposition when needed.

All of Ben whites domestic managers absolutely love him. He's a bit of a cuuuunt on the pitch, but that's great for us. Like Andy Robertsin is for Liverpool, or Suarez was for them (took it a bit far with the cannibalism and racism though).

White has been absolutely superb since the start of this calender year, long may it continue.
