Man Utd vs. Arsenal reflections

A much needed win at leaky Old Trafford. We never got out of first gear but dominated the match. Utd were very poor in the final third and had 2 very weak shots on target (not sure you can even count them as that).

Thought Garnacho gave White some trouble but the end product was not there. Dalot also had a couple of good moments. Amad looked lively at times. Amrabat was hot and cold, one good tackle then gives the ball away the next minute.

Arsenal's defence stood out with Saliba yet again man of the match. Attacking wise we were very poor but still had the better moments. A few players were visibly nervous but the main thing was to get the 3 points.

The win will probably mean nothing after City beat Spurs tomorrow night.

That he was playing intermittently, in loads of different positions because ‘total football’ rather than not having end product, and the following season is proof of that.

That's not a lie at all. That is exactly what he was doing. This is our philosophy from youth levels.

Look at our team right now. Odegaard and Saka interchange continuously, and Saka is not a pure winger.

Key Passes
1. Bruno Fernandes • Manchester Utd 108
2. Pascal Groß • Brighton 97
3. Martin Ødegaard • Arsenal 95
4. Bukayo Saka • Arsenal 91

6. Morgan Gibbs-White • Nott'ham Forest 71
7. Dwight McNeil • Everton 69
8. Alfie Doughty • Luton Town 68

Still think Saka best position will be as a attacking MF player.

I can see him moving to that position as he gets older

None of that is relevant to the points about 20/21, but crack on.

I think Saka's game most aligns to how Iniesta played. And it is a disservice to call him a winger that the media often try to pigeonhole his game into.

Of course its relevent. How do you develop an all round youngster unless you play him in different positions so that he can see what is required?

"Arsenal chose to defend most of the game"

That wasnt the plan actually according to Arteta. So credit to United and to ETH who found a way to push us back. Under the cirumstances with 7 first teamer out United did well at least worked hard.

That wasnt our best away game. Indeed it was one of the worst if I am honest. What Arteta managed to add in contrast to last season is we can play in various ways when things not going to plan. That is what we did.

Basis is our solidity among the team. Every player attack and defend if needed. Look at Saka defensive stats yesterday.

Think also we were under pressure and anyone could see it. We knew 3 points needed to let the dream continue and OT isnt the best place for Arsenal to go no matter the circumstancies.

With now 86 points we managed to do club history. I am proud of this team.
