I didn't manage to watch any football yesterday as I was on the road all afternoon, but was glad to see United's women's team win the FA Cup final, and therefore its first ever trophy. A 4-0 victory over Spurs - highlights here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c3g9d12wn33t
The first goal was a lovely strike by the female Bobby Charlton, Ella Toone. Admittedly the space that opened up for her in front of Spurs' defence was like watching a team attacking our men's side, but her switch of direction to make space for the shot was classy, and the shot itself was a genuine thunderbastard.

I know it’s terrible but I have zero interest in women’s football. I’ve tried but I just don’t care, I’m awful.

The quality is just so poor compared to the men's. I watch it and think any Sunday league team if they had some high level fitness would give the best women's team a beating.

There are fundamental athletic differences of course. You could say the same about most sports where athleticism is a significant factor. It's up to each of us whether to sneer at women's sport as a result, or to take it on its own terms.

If you are an alpha male and you think women are rubbish and should stick to cooking men's dinner and giving blowies... then you are probably not going to get women's sport... football, golf, tennis, athletics etc. and yes, even netball... if you insist on comparing it to men's sport.
Men will always be taller, stronger, faster, and kick, hit and throw things harder and longer.

It's nothing to do with that, I just don't have an interest. I guess there's so much else going on in life that getting into another form of football just isn't of interest to me. I barely have time for United games, let alone other PL, CL, European and domestic leagues so I just don't care for it.

82, I thought your comment was fine. My interest in the women's team is much more at a distance. I was taking issue with Devonshiretory, and I suspect RBW's comment was directed in that direction too.

No I know. Just pointing out to RB&W that not everyone who doesn't follow the women's game are alpha males. I've thought about taking my daughter to see the Spurs womens side as they play not too far from us but she has absolutely no interest in football so not gonna force that on her anytime soon.

It's not about comparing it to men's sport, but just the quality of it. Tennis, golf, athletics, the quality is there, because they have been going a good while. But sports like football and say, rugby, which both relatively speaking, had a lot of long-term funding, it's going to take a while to get that quality up. It's nothing to do with sexism, just what is realistic.
Of course it will improve as the years go on, but for me personally, I don't find it a great watch.
