Tuchel

I don’t know who I want as United manager next season but I know it’s not Tuchel.

Tried his best to lose the title for Bayern last season only for Dortmund to bottle it and 3rd this season with Bayern.

Overrated manager who’s not the answer for us especially not long term.

I'm not Tuchel's biggest fan by any means, but at least you'll know what you're getting with him. With so many big clubs in the market for a new manager, Bayern for one are already realising that better managers than him aren't necessarily available.

He’s a decent option if you want short term cup success but that’s about it.

Not a fan, he can help bring stability and some sort of structure short term can’t see him building anything worthwhile and his use of kids (lack of) has always been a little worrying.

On top of that he seems like a bit of a d-ck and will most likely fall out with a bunch of people at the club.

I can see him going to Barca.

On what basis are you saying this? Presumably not on that of a detailed assessment of what he has done tactically etc at each team he has coached. And I don't think you've looked that closely at the performance of his teams. At Dortmund he had higher win percentage than Klopp (despite the club selling key players) and achieved a league points total that would have won the Bundesliga most years (but was up against Guardiola's Bayern with Lewandowski on fire). At PSG winning the league may be a par performance but not every manager does it every time (and Ancelotti failed to do so). Tuchel won it both seasons, including a domestic quadruple and PSG's only CL final. At Chelsea he rapidly improved a side that was sнite under Lampard, completely re-engineering the formation and tactical approach. And he won the Champions League not only beating City in the final, but outclassing Real Madrid and others along the way.

Xavi is staying put as of the moment, isn't he?

Last I heard Xavi p-ssed off Laporta and he now wants him gone. But who knows with Barca, they seem a bit of a circus.

Every manager is overrated, according to the OP.

Bayern’s mismanagement over the years has come back to bite them by the looks of things. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer club.

At the end of the day there’s no “sure thing” out there managerially speaking. Tuchel is as good as anyone we could get right now.

INEOS may take a view that with Berrada, Wilcox & Ashworth only just about to get their feet in the door (and, in the latter case, some way away still), that sticking with ETH for now and playing the longer game may be beneficial and be less disruptive.

It’s also hardly a stretch to imagine that with a good summer window and a team less blighted by injuries (plus further development of the younger players in the squad) that we could look better next season under the same manager.

Klopp, Arteta and Fergie all had very difficult seasons early on in their respective tenures, and Ajax have hardly gone on to new levels since ETH departed. He’s a talented coach, and maybe INEOS will want to create an environment in which any manager can thrive before they roll the dice.

We’ve had one good season and one bad season under ETH (and there’s still a chance of blagging a trophy, albeit slim), with a lot of mitigating circumstances that *maybe* affords ETH a little benefit of the doubt.

I’m on the fence somewhat as to whether I think we should sack ETH, but I’d not be remotely surprised if we stick with him come the start of next season.

They might also find it easier to get ETH to buy into their recruitment strategy. Other coaches may be put off by it.

Share your sentiments about Tuchel. He is neither a manager who is able to re-unite a team. So United is surely not the right man for Manchester United.
