Since our win against City, a number of fans seem to be choosing to ignore 2 seasons of underwhelming management by ETH; instead getting mighty drunk on emotion because we’ve won a trophy. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s brilliant that we outclassed and outfought Pep’s side, but at the same time we cannot just turn a blind eye to this season’s eighth place finish. Nor can we turn a blind eye to how inept Ten Hag has been time and time again since he took over.
I might be called harsh for actually saying we’ve had 2 seasons of underwhelming management by Ten Hag, but after spending a fortune on (let’s be fair) plenty of poor signings coupled with the fact that we STILL don’t have any style of play, I genuinely think he has to go. Look at other managers who’ve had less time than he has, less money etc, and you can see a clear identity with how they play: Ange, Emery, Iraola and even De Zerbi.
Also, to the people who use the ‘this is like Arteta’s second season’ argument to justify support for ETH don’t understand football because Arsenal still had a style of play under their Spaniard. Arteta’s issues were due to not having the right players at the time to do what he wanted. You could still see what he was trying to do, which simply cannot be said for Ten Hag.
I have full faith in INEOS as proper ruthless businessmen to do what’s right and get rid of Erik. They’d be confirming that they’re incompetent if they stick by him when the likes of Tuchel, Zidane and Poch are available. All of them are miles better managers than him and we’d get them.
Excellence over emotion. Ten Hag out.
INEOS Must Choose Excellence, Not Emotion

It’s a bit different when the changes all happened in the middle of the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even with that Darren they've been in place since the middle of the season and have seen and considered at 1st hand what's happened on and off the pitch.
Other than we are now fa cup winners and qualified for europa league football what more would they have they learned about this season and eth since the Brighton game.
Seems to me the fact that only last week they've been talking to other managers shows they had already done their review
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand that, but you’ve also got to consider where Barrada, Wilcox and Ashworth fit into the process as well. And technically speaking, they aren’t employed by the club yet.
It’s a peculiar situation, because it’s almost like Ten Hag is having to apply for the job again. And if the club are speaking with other candidates, it may be that they’ll want to have some idea of whether these coaches fit their criteria better than Ten Hag.
It’s a bit frustrating, but I can kind of understand why a decision hasn’t yet been announced. It appears to me that they’re considering multiple options, and I don’t think it’s particularly like the way the Glazers have conducted their decision making over the years.

When we played Chelsea at home in November, we went down to 9 men and continued playing a high line. Some would say that's absolute suicide, and sure, we lost the game 4-1 but it was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested. I came away from that, not crestfallen at the result, but optimistic that we had focus, a real direction, a clear philosophy that can inform the recruitment team where to look for areas to strengthen. That single-mindedness from Ange, whilst sometimes messy and painful, is the very bedrock that change comes from. ETH's willingness to change his philosophy based on injuries I think is at the very heart of what's currently going wrong. Do the recruitment team now look for players to fine tune your counter-attacking squad, or pivot completely and look for those comfortable in a more controlled system? It causes fuzzy thinking.
.........
Understat had XG 0.96 vs 4.06 and scoreline was 1-4 so the scoreline reflected the game.
Man Utd played Chelsea at home XG 4.04 vs 2.35 and score was 2-1.

He's a joke. A pathetic Moby tribute act who tried to be a Right Said Fred tribute act but wasn't good enough.

I’d argue they do their best work defending the box anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Martinez is probably the exemption there, he's good in a high line, has enough anticipation and pace not to worry too much about the ball behind and he is great at winning the ball back early, not to mention his ability on the ball.
It's been a big issue for ETH and one of the main reasons for the gap between the defence and midfield, the rest naturally drop due to their lack of pace.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah Martinez is much better defending the box. His lack of pace is an issue when defending higher up the pitch, and he doesn’t win enough in the air to snuff out those counters before they develop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's usually the aggressor in such partnerships though and I do feel he is good at that role of reading the attacker and pinching the ball.
You could probably argue most defenders are better at defending their box, as it's a lot easier.

Some do, and some are actually more suited to defending higher up the pitch. I think Martinez is part of the issue with the defensive line, but by no means the worst offender.

Jackson should have had six just on his own. 4-1 flattered Spurs if anything, they got absolutely battered.

Manchester United’s entire non-football staff have been invited to take redundancy in an email sent across the club on Tuesday afternoon, according to The Athletic.
United are giving employees just seven days to make a decision about whether they wish to continue their careers at the club.
The offer relates to all employees who are not a scout or on the playing staff, and therefore impacts some who work at the club’s Carrington training complex.
Employees have been given until June 5 to decide whether to take what the club describe as 'voluntary resignation', although some employees argued it looked more like a voluntary redundancy programme.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe — who completed his minority investment in the club in February — is seeking to bring United’s costs down as part of a restructuring process, with the club losing £42m despite posting healthy overall revenue.
Earlier this month, United’s staff were told by Ratcliffe that working from home would no longer be permitted and subsequent emails insisted staff must return to the office by June 1 at all locations, including the club’s offices at Old Trafford and in London, as well as Carrington.
INEOS is looking to trim the club’s staff count from more than 1,000. United hope the savings can help them better fit into both Premier League and UEFA financial regulations, as well as allowing for greater investment in the playing squad.

Wait, what?
Only a couple of days or so ago, someone was posting here that United was on a recruitment drive and targeting City employees.
Seriously, fair do's to Ratcliffe though. Only owning 20-odd percent of the club and is able to systematically do whatever he wants. Shows how impotent the Glazers are - not a good optic of them to the world of business world.
