Arsenal summer 2024

It is going to a busy summer for Arsenal, as we look to continue to improve.

We already know a number of players will leave on June 30th at the end of their contracts. Cedric and Mo Elneny headline the list that includes a number of 'keepers - most notably Arthur Okonkwo, Ovie Ejeheri and James Hillson - as well as the likes of Mauro Bandeira, Taylor Foran, Catalin Cirjan, Tyreece John-Jules and James Lannin-Sweet.

According to the rumour mill there will be further departures and some big names are being linked to moves:
Aaron Ramsdale
Emile Smith Rowe
Eddie Nketiah
Oleksandr Zinchenko
Jakub Kiwior
Thomas Partey
Reiss Nelson
Karl Hein

Players who spent 23/24 on loan are all expected to be allowed to leave:
Kieran Tierney
Nuno Tavares
Sambi Lokonga
Charlie Patino
Brooke Norton Cuffy
Marquinhos
Mika Biereth

A couple of the more talented youths, Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry, are both out of contract at the end of the month, but the fact they weren't on the list of departures shows contracts have been offered. Will they be accepted?

So how could our squad look for next season before signings?

Keepers - 1 - (1 HG)
David Raya*

Defenders - 6 (2 HG)
Ben White*, William Saliba*, Gabriel, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko

Midfielders - 10 (4 HG)
Declan Rice*, Martin Odegaard, Jorginho, Thomas Partey, Kai Havertz, Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson*, Gabriel Martinelli*, Bukayo Saka*, Leandro Trossard

Strikers - 1
Gabriel Jesus

18 players, 7 HG.
PL Squad rules - Maximum of 25 players born before 1st January 2003. Of those only 17 can be non-HG.
CL rules - Maximum of 25 players born before 1st January 2003. Maximum 17 non-HG, 4 have to be club trained (ie at the club for 3 years from 15-21) and 4 have to be association trained (ie at a club in the countries league system for 3 years from 15-21).

Of course, you can use as many U21s as you like, but there doesn't seem that many close to the first team. Ethan Nwaneri is the standout, while if Cozy-Dubz can be convinced to stay you would have to think there could be a chance of senior minutes (maybe on loan though).

It will be an interesting summer, with at least 4 signings for the senior team needed. Already a large number of players linked such as Sesko, Bruno Guimaraes, Joao Neves and most recently Tsygankov from Girona.

I mean, we could turn this thread into a transfer rumour mill as well.

I'll kick it off:

Sesko/Osimhen, - no.9
Zubimendi/Neves, - DM
Hato, - CB/LB/RB
Nico Williams/Raphinha. - LW/RW

Sort of covers positions targeted by Arteta.

Morata

Maybe we should bring home Olise, my only issue with him is his injuries

I'd imagine we lose Ramsdale and replace him for less money.

Then I think we'll lose one of Kiwior or Zinchenko, but not both and bring in a more specialist LB.

I don't think we'll get any attractive offers for Partey, so I imagine that we'll go for a number 8 that's good enough to come into the first team and play alongside Rice.

Up front it looks like Sesko, which seems to make sense, any other additions would surely depend on Jesus leaving as he can also act as a rotation option for Saka.

So I think we'll look at 4 first team squad players and with a decent amount of money coming in we should be able to spend pretty well.

GK: Raya & new GK

RB: White, Timber, Tomi
LB: New LB, Timber, Tomi, Kiwior
CB: Saliba, Gabriel, White, Tomi, Timber, Kiwior
DM: Rice, Partey, Jorgi
AM: Ode, new CM, Rice, Havertz, Vieira, Nwarei
Wingers: Saka, Marti, Trossard, Jesus
CF: Havertz, Sesko, Jesus

I dunno where that leaves us on the HG, I guess it would all depend on who comes in.

Isak says has 'no thoughts' on his future insisting he is enjoying his time with the Magpies despite them missing out on European football.

Speaking to Swedish outlet Fotballskanalen, he said: 'I am enjoying myself at Newcastle, and I had the best season in my career — that should not be underestimated.

He doesn't look like he wants to move

Or he is responding after his agent has been unable to generate any interest to meet Newcastle's demands.

Yeah, Isak ain't moving. Bruno G may be a different story.
