WTAF?!
Poch - USA Men’s Team Coach.

The stupid will judge him on trophies. It's the dramatic degree of progress to take us to competing at the very highest level that he should be judged on.
---
Tbf it'd be stupid to judge on either while ignoring the other. Should Levy purely be judged because of the improvements he's made to the club's finances? Should a player be judged purely on effort?
There's really no need to simplify a debate and insult opposing viewpoints to make yours.

pre-new stadium at a time when the likes of City and Chelsea were cheating wildly.
———
And a time when everyone so shiiiiiit that Leicester won the league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The following season we came 2nd with 86 points...a points total that would have won the league in 1992/3 when Fegie first won it in a league of 22 (42 games), and in about 10 seasons since.
We were very good at the time, just not quite good enough.
Leicester was just a freak result.

Spurs finishing second was as much a freak result.

Does anyone else find USMNT an incredibly cringe way to refer to this team?

It's delusional and frankly ignorant to downplay his talents
---
Is it? Wasn't amazing at Southampton. Did well with us. Average to poor at PSG. Did nothing to win the fans over at Chelsea. He's now the USA coach. I think it's a bit delusional and ignorant to act as if he's beyond criticism
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He aint beyond criticism but i think people tend to forget where to took us from and to, and the way he did it, how he brought pride back to Spurs fans and how very close we came to real glory in such a short space of time....all that while having modest budgets working under tight-fisted Levy, pre-new stadium at a time when the likes of City and Chelsea were cheating wildly.
The stupid will judge him on trophies. It's the dramatic degree of progress to take us to competing at the very highest level that he should be judged on. The fact we fell just short is just a small part of it, not the defining of his abilities.

This is absolutely bang on.👏👏👏

Agreed. It was post Fergie and Wenger, Klopp was finding his feet, as was Pep. You could say the league was in transition and we were beginning to rebuild WHL so money went onto the stadium instead of the team.

I haven't simplified anything. I didn't say only judge him on progress, I acknowledged his lack of trophies as being part of it. Perhaps I should have been clearer....only the stupid will judge him PURELY on trophies.

Yeah that's fair. His time with us was very good on the whole. What he's done since not so much. Point being, he's clearly proven not to be the messiah he was thought of and some Spurs fans still hold him up to be.

I feel he was a victim of circumstances:
@ Spurs, the new stadium preventing him from improving and refreshing the squad properly. A whole season with no transfers and it caught up with us, leading to bad form and ultimately his impatient sacking.
@ PSG - A joke club where the manager has little control especially when trying to manager Messi MBappe & Neymar. Sounds like a dream team but do not think that was really the case. POch did underperform.
@CFC - dealt a very shiiit hand but he had turned it around by the end and nearly ended above Spurs, but above United & NUFC, despite having a horror injury record.
Not sure you should ever go back, so i was not keen on a return, but in hindsight i do think we'd be much better placed if we had stuck with him in those bad times instead of sacking him. The next stage was trophies and who knows if we would have achieved something. Could barely have been any worse.
