Morning All
All gone a bit quiet on the transfer front.... not hearing any whispers about us being linked with anyone
We don't appear to be in the running for Toney, JWP sounds like he's off back to Saints, Chiesa to Pool looks to be done & Sancho/Sterling salary dump makes sense for both sides.
Anyone heard of anything else cooking ?
Most of our outgoings seem to be done, Ex GLC sadly.
So, in short... are we done ?, Have we done enough to meet realistic ambitions.... Top 4 and a cup.... I think we might have... just, but tIm not gonna lie.... United are spending decent money (still think the manager is the weakest link) and chelsea will be better as the season goes on.. No need to mention City, Arsenal & liverpool.
I think a lot of younger players are gonna need to find their feet fast & better luck with injuries will help.
I still think 5th is realistic but I think this will be the year & we'll win a Cup... I fancy us for the Europa
COYS
Are we done ?

Solanke almost feels like a modern Chris Armstrong signing. We paid £4.5m for him back in 1995 when Andy Cole was going to Man U from Newcastle for £7.5m.
Hope he turns out better

The thing with Poch was we were spending massively on the stadium at the time. Funds we're tight and if you believe reports he decided to save what he had for bigger in the following summer.
I don't think one can be too critical of spending in that time and the Emriates and Arsenal's spending is a case study that backs that up.
What is unfair is that the inevitable drop off in performance after no refreshing a squad cost Poch his job. Circumstances limited what he could spend and the same circumstances should have been considered when assessing his performance. Levys worst decision by a mile which has been compounded by 3 more poor manager choices setting us back years. And manager turmoil often messes up the squad too and we're only just sorting that out now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The stadium could have played a part, yet we negotiated a very good deal in terms of repayment plans so it didn't impact us for long. Poch definitely played his part, perhaps because he felt that for the money available, he couldn't find anyone that could strengthen a very talented squad. That might be why he didn't spend. My hunch is that the moment top began to look nailed on year after year, Levy eased off because he knew that's where the money was. All the time we were qualifying, he didn't need to keep spending. Then it all went to shiiiit because the squad became stale. We didn't have to nouse to understand the right time to sell either. That could have made a huge difference to squad turnover. In some sense that lack of ability still exists. We only sold Kane because he wanted out. We should have sold Dele and Dier too at the right time but I guess it's easier with hindsight.

Ange will be left short, it`s what Levy does.
Levy has never fully backed any manager, it won`t be any different for Ange.
