We are a third of the way through the full league phase and as we are going into (yet another) international break it is about time to review each of the Scottish Premiership teams and grade them.
Celtic - A
The straight A student that continues to be top of the class. Hasn't done much wrong and doesn't get the credit for putting in the effort behind the scenes as everyone just expects them to naturally be top
Aberdeen - A+
The student that has always had the potential to get decent grades but is having a stormer of a semester. Completely outdoing every expectation set upon them. Setting themselves up for the end of year awards but they will be hoping that when it comes to exam time they do not bottle it.
Rangers - C
The student that does the absolute bare minimum or just less than. High expectations consistently not being met. Doing just about enough to get results so far but getting outshone by their peers. Needs a major attitude change to get anything out of this year.
Dundee Utd - A
What a great student. A pleasure to have in amongst everyone else. Expectations were to get there long term but short term they were expected to just be finding their feet. A few mishaps so far but overall is in a great place and can hold their head high. Even if standards drop a bit they can be proud of having a good year after a year away visting a diifferent school
Motherwell - B
Exactly where you expect them to be. Hard working but not expected to hit the top grades. Usually just trumped by the top of the class but overall tend to be stronger than the rest. Expect consistency from this student for the rest of the year.
St Mirren - B
Poor start. Distracted by outside activities and occassional poor behaviour but once they activities were ended and the bad behaviour sorted they took a while to get their concentration back. Now they are back to where they hope to be and with a lot of hard work can achieve that top half finish. Outdoing their bigger, smarter peers yet again.
Dundee - C
Flatters to deceive. Gets a couple of good results early in the semester and thinks the hard work is done. Has shown in the past they can do well and can achieve pass marks this year but they need to find the spark that left them at the end of the last term.
Kilmarnock - C
Similar to their mate St Mirren. Poor start. Distracted by outside activities but once they activities were ended they took a while to get their concentration back. Now they are slowly getting back to where they hope to be and with a lot of hard work can achieve that top half finish.
Ross County - C
Could argue they are on track for a B based on recent years results. Not getting too many bad results but also not getting too many good results. Not so much coasting as constantly grafting to stay in with the top students. Might be concerned that if the other students who are messing about get their acts together then they could be in line for a move to a different, lesser, school next year.
St Johnstone - D
Barely passing and doesn't really have any friends - the forgotten student. A bit of a lone wolf not good enough to be in with the top students but a student who has always been hanging around. Definitely should be worried that they are on the radar for a move to a lesser school.
Hearts - F
Awful attitude, awful results. Not real effort being seen, no change in performance despite a change behind the scenes. Considers themselves to be among the top students, depsite not being popular, but in reality without a major attitude change will find themselves buying different school badges for next year.
Hibs - No grade
Disgraceful student. Used to be a popular student but is now the laughing stock of the semester. No effort, no attempt to get back on track. Simply a shocking semester and letters will be sent home with clear warnings for being sent to a lesser school even before the start of the split semester at the end of the year

Unreliable rumours kicking about tonight that Celtic are close to agreeing a deal for Lennon Miller for £5.3 million rising to £6.5 million in January, with him being loaned back to Motherwell for the remainder of the season.

Good. Glad we aren't trying to be cheap as we'd miss out on him.
Outstanding talent. Was the stand out player at CS Jnr age group which has turned out a few professionals already. Because he played at a top team I got to see most of the best players across the country
The 3 best players were Lennon, Bailey Rice (Rangers) and Brandon Forbes (Norwich from Dundee Utd)
Ethan Sutherland at Wolves from St Mirren is a player I could never understand why academy teams rated him. Yet somehow has made it through

Something I'm more aware of with the emergence of player databases with stats that I believe their use is responsible for some of the seemingly baffling decisions clubs make? So, a 'pler' to you or I may not be the whole story.
I somewhat get it that if they believe a player is never going to meet the minimum athletic requirements of the top level then why keep and invest? They have the numbers for 10s of thousands so can chart trajectories and analyse by positional requirements.
As unfortunate as it is, an athlete will almost always win out against skill and I think this trend helps explain why we end up with teams of hammer throwers and very little skill and mavericks like Daizen Maeda over Mikey Johnston when push comes to shove.
It's something I thought about a lot from Silver jnr's year - Hickey is the standout output but at 16s he was barely getting 10minutes off the bench! Meteoric after he left. But his stats were always good, always at the top on beep. Athletic genes.

Miller looks like a top talent.
we spent 6 million on lagerbielke and narowski. and about 4 million on yang and kwon. This kid is worth the risk.

Scotland winger Ben Doak has amassed 39 carries into the penalty area (CPA) this season, according to FBref, making the 18-year-old on loan to Middlesbrough fourth best among players in the top five leagues in Europe, plus the Championship, and is ranked higher than Liverpool clubmate Mohamed Salah and Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe. Can’t say I’ve seen enough of him to gauge if he’s a good player or not. Miller I’m talking about btw.

He is the real deal. The complete midfielder. Tall, athletic and strong. Good skill, good dead ball and the epitome of if you are good enough you are old enough
