Van Nistelrooy to be Leicester Manager…

To be confirmed in the next 24 hours apparently in a move of absolute insanity from an owner who makes Todd Boehly look rational

And why are we picking him? His PL managerial credentials? His track record of survival? His tactical style of play?

No. Primarily it’s because he doesn’t cost anything and we literally can’t afford anyone else

This is what you call the domino effect. One terrible decision leads to another and another and another. This clown wont stop until he has us in league one.

Absolutely Warwick! I reckon we can have a decent go at top 6 this season - European qualification should be the minimum now πŸ˜‚

Basically the way I look at it is this.

The neutrals seem pretty much perplexed by it - which tells you something

The Leicester fans are still relieved to see the back of Cooper so they’re mainly pretty happy with whoever

I think we’re going down - but we likely to go down in style. And that’s better than going down with a whimper of course - but ultimately going down again is the one thing this club can’t afford to happen

.........................However, as most of you have said, it remains to be seen, but it has to be an upgrade on Steve Cooper.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it? It could easily be a total disaster with someone coming in who has little managerial experience and zero, yes absolutely zero, experience in facing the situation that an LCFC manager now finds themselves in; trying to stay in the EPL with a poor squad, key players injured, an ageing star striker who is struggling to stay fit, a useless DoF, an owner who apparently may have fired the last manager because he didn't like his whining about officials, possible lack of money to strengthen the squad in January and still a potential points deduction!

Fantastic players don't always make fantastic managers, in fact they regularly turn out to be pants at the job. RVN has quite a high bar to hit too to make sense of your comment OWF; as when Cooper was fired after nearly a third of the season gone we are 16th, clear of the relegation spots - he was actually on track to achieving what must be the key target for this season, to somehow stay in this league.

Unfortunately, if this is the wrong appointment, then the next one is likely to be a desperate one of the Dean Smith variety. That is why I'm concerned about it so much.

I haven't heard why Moyes isn't in the frame either?

Naturally I really hope all the glass half full people are right and I'm wrong!

Apologies for my other posting, I really hope I'm wrong with all the negativity.

To balance that a bit RVN was a fantastic player, he will hopefully be able to use his contracts to get some reinforcements in January and his stature in the game demands respect and may well result in better players wanting to join us. He has a decent record so far in his managerial career. I can't deny that it will be great to see him on the touchline for us.

There, that's about as positive as I can get at the moment

You’ve no need to apologise Nuneaton, you make several valid points. One thing i would highlight though is our slightly false position in 16th place, on the back of two wins and four draws.
Of the two wins, the first against Bournemouth was a gift from the gods - how they didn’t score 5 against us beggars belief. And we needed a very late winner against a poor Southampton side after being 2-0 down. Amongst the draws, we should have beaten Everton if we’d turned up and were robbed at Crystal Palace. Spurs should have been 4-0 up by half time in the opener.
I’ve no doubt that if we’d retained Cooper, relegation was pretty much assured. I’m not sure it’s correct to say he had lost the dressing room; more probably he had failed to win most of them over to start with. And if you add the reported fall outs with Winks, Choudhury and more notably Vestergaard (banished from the first team training reportedly), it’s easy to see why.
Anyway, good to note you’re feeling some positivity!

I wouldn't disagree with anything you've said there apart from the bit about keeping Cooper and getting relegated; no matter how fortunate we've been so far, under Cooper we were still outside the relegation zone. We might well still have been relegated under him, but it wasn't certain - what was it Napoleon said - give me lucky generals..............

So he is our new manager. Not worth starting a new thread about it as we've said most that needed to be said.

Let's keep fingers crossed that we have a new manager bounce. I'm assuming he won't have had too much to do with the squad/tactics for Brentford?

We'll see how he gets on tomorrow.

Might be better to wait for Tuesday, Nuneaton!
Let’s all get behind him.

I will indeed be behind him on Tuesday, I sit in B2!

Let's hope he joins the Zidane, Beckenbauer, Cruyff list of great players who became great managers rather than the Maradona, Charlton, Shearer list!

I'm hoping he will be still with us in the summer, and being linked with every top job going.
