If a match is going to be televised you might hope that it will be worth watching and based on the current form of the participants this one is not shaping up too well.
I don’t think it’s just me and Micky who are asking questions about McCann’s ability to get the best out of what is believed to be a relatively talented squad at L2 level. The young goalkeeper from Chelsea has got stronger and McGrath has become a real asset. But GM’s summer signings have not turned out to be as good as a lot of fans rather optimistically expected and we are a long way from having enough talent to put out 2 good teams at this level.
You could go through the whole of the rest of the squad and ask who has got better and who is less effective? Without the players who take the ball forward, like Sterry, Fleming, Emmanuel, Clifton and Gibson plus I suppose (just about) Molyneux we’d be very weak and of course he doesn’t pick all of them for every game. It really does not augur well.
We might hope that the team spirit and importance of the forthcoming fixtures and the added competition which January reinforcements might bring might stimulate more endeavour.
Tranmere have picked up 4 points in their last 6 away games and we have amassed just 7 at home. The prospect of an exciting spectacle is remote and based on our recent record against similar teams I am going to suggest that we might stave off defeat and finish 1-1 (Clifton/Gibson - even though neither will probably start, so I’ll choose McGrath as back-up.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be wrong - but then I usually am.

GM did well with his January signings last year. Let's hope he can manage the same this January. Time for a good home performance. Hopefully conditions won't be too bad. I'm going for a 3-1 win Molyneaux,Sharp,,Hurst.

I'm beginning to hate this deal with SkySports - another game brought forward to some ungodly hour. I think I'll still be asleep in bed.
It was much different years ago when I was a little younger. I was in Singapore during the 1982 World Cup in Spain and I remember watching England playing, I think, France in the middle of the night, Singapore time. I remember England scoring and the whole hotel appeared to shake with so many guests cheering while in bed!
As far as the Tranmere game, I'll also go hopefully and optimistically for 3-1 to the Rovers. However, I must remember hope is not a strategy.
I'll go with Molyneux if he starts, or if not, whoever starts of Ironside and Sharp.

Good in parts, but very disappointing in the end.
When you’re well on top why make substitutions? And why not leave one man up the field when defending set pieces when you’ve got the extra man?
Hirst did OK, but the other subs should be bursting with energy, yet they amble about as though the objective is to only to avoid defeat.
Conceding goals to poor teams with 10 men isn’t promotion form whatever the Table shows.

Despite some indifferent form I think one of the advantages GM has over many of the other teams in our League is the size and depth of his squad. We are likely to be one of the few teams with this luxury Going into the later half of the season.
