Thought I might do a series of 4 articles, 1 every few days, to discuss the state of our squad during the coming transfer window. I'll base it on players we have named on the Wolves site.
To start with Keepers:
Jose Sa
Sam Johnstone
Dan Bentley
Tom King
How good is our squad? 1. Keepers

To me Sa is our best keeper by some distance, despite his faults. In Johnstone we signed a keeper that is steady and a good back up. I don’t think Bentley or King are anywhere near Premier League keepers. For that reason the signing of Johnstone was important because if Sa got injured and was out for a while then we’d have even bigger defensive problems with Bentley needing to be first choice

We didn’t sign Johnstone as a “back up” to Jose Sa, he was signed to replace him and be first choice.
Fact is the club made another mess of moving Sa on before the window closed, that provided the time for everyone to see how poor Johnstone really is and for Sa to take the keeper jersey back.
Let’s not fall into the trap of rewriting history here.

You're just smarting because you believed your mates in the Newhampton when they told you he'd sold up and buggered off to Saudi, yet here he is still our first choice

Actually I was told he’d moved out of his rental property. Looks like he’s rented another one!
Fact remains, Shi and Hobbs made a complete fack up of his move.
I’ll be in the Newhampton on Thursday afternoon if anyone fancies a prematch pint? I’m not quite so offensive mid week. 😂

So will Sa still be here in February? Sure to be I think. The question is what happens in the summer?
A lot depends on the next few weeks. I'm sure Pereira recognises Sa as the better keeper and I'd be very surprised if he chooses to rotate them.
An interesting question is what will Johnstone do, can't see him settling for the bench week in week out.

Johnstone would suit a mid table Championship team.
Maybe we could unload him on the 💩

How long's your drive Oldgold? Mines about 215 miles return, only about 80 miles motorway.

Johnstone was signed as Sa's replacement but for whatever reason Sa ended up staying. With hindsight i don't think we would have signed Johnstone if we knew Sa was staying.
Can't see Sa leaving in January but the summer is likely. Question then is are we going to go with Johnstone or try again with someone new.
