Just seen an article get hijacked on what woke means and people getting agitated about its meaning.
A word means exactly what the user intends it to mean. The recipient of the word may have a different understanding or just completely misunderstand.
It is just like you have a choice. Treat the world how you think it should be or treat the world how it is.
Whether people like it or not, the word 'woke' is now used in connection with situations where male offenders are placed in female prisons even through their crimes are against females.
Now, this may not be the original usage, but it is now. There are plenty of words that the meaning has evolved.
Also, I watch loads of South Korean Drama. Hellbound, Squid Game and I cannot recommend The Glory high enough, and to be honest, you do really have to concentrate.
Also, the is not only Far Left and Far Right but many different views. If someone doesn't agree with you, it doesn't make them the complete opposite and an evil person.
Edit: Reading some of the comments, I really don't know how this country brings itself together ever again. That is directed at either the left or the right, but there is no longer a tolerance for differing views.

There has been a lot of misinformation in regards to winter fuel payments being banded around by far right groups and passed on from their social media members.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is this far right disinformation?
https://www.ageuk.org.uk/our-impact/campaigning/save-the-winter-fuel-payment/
What do you disagree with about this?
"2.5 million pensioners who badly need the money to stay warm this winter will not receive it and will be in serious trouble as a result. "
Your post sounds pretty right wing to me. "We can't afford it". I guess this is the difference between those of us who back real left wing parties like green and believe we're wealthy enough to be providing UBI and those that are economically right wing who claim we can't afford a winter fuel payment when RR is expanding to provide custom luxury cars to the wealthy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully most of the pensioners who are entitled to pension credit have now signed up, because that was a problem too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're in receipt of pension credot you automatically receive the winter fuel payment. If you earn under the threshold and are not in receipt of pension credit then you need to apply.
I've a friend who's a member of one of these far right groups on Facebook who told his own mother her winter fuel payment has been cancelled and she was devastated. I ask him if he actually looked into these claims and he stated yes, it's all over Facebook. So I went online and should him the actual government website which shows she's automatically entitled to the winter fuel payment and will be receiving it as normal. He told me it was lies. I asked him the next day if he had told his mother that she will automatically receive the payment and he confirmed that he had. He still continued to spout nonsense about the winter fuel payments being stopped and killing pensioners.
The facts don't matter to these people, once they've been fed this misinformation they'll stick to it no matter what. They need to feel intellectually superior to everybody else and this is how they feel they achieve this.

Words mean what they mean, not what the grifters of GB News and Talk TV want them to mean.
Just as the words racist and fascist mean exactly
the same today as they did in 1933.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Given what constitutes racism and fascism these days, I would argue that these words have lost all meaning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which is something only racists say.
We see you.

The reason we've been borrowing so much is because a: we've allowed private individuals to make huge gains from increasing automation instead of distributing it to the citizens of the Country, and b: we've allowed wealthy individuals to gain a monopoly on the housing market
A small percentage of people are spending wealth which should be used for public service on luxury toys for themselves.
That's the real fiscal issue at hand. And one which isn't being addressed. Winter fuel payments don't affect those people, NI and living wage increases don't affect those people, VAT on private school fees don't affect those people. They're just distractions from the main issue at hand.
Wealthy individuals can be targeted through a property tax, but Labour won't do this because they know that crashing the housing market will make them unpopular.

If you discriminate/stereotype people based solely on their ethnicity. It's that simple.
I can't think of anything more ridiculous than assuming the strength of an individual's character, based solely on the colour of their skin or their ethnicity.

The group on Facebook is called 'British Updates'.
Where they post such intelligent content such as 'it's now offensive to say "Merry Christmas".'
Doctor photos of Starmer with a smile on his face sitting next to vulnerable pensioners in blankets, stating he removed winter fuel payments for them.
And other such misinformation to rile people up.

Well no, that's not the reason, there are a multitude of reasons of which that is part of the problem globally. Labour have increased taxes on those people which again has led to criticism from the far right and misinformation.
I was more referring to the free hand outs, borrowing money to hand out to people, who aren't vulnerable. I know multiple people who received massive sums for apparently being self-employed during COVID for example. One guy who did events every so often got thousands handed to him despite never earning close to that in a year, others who got tens of thousands when earning nowhere near that in the past and even people who weren't self employed at all claiming they were and receiving the payments.
During the 13 years of conservatives free money was handed out left, right and centre.
Although I do agree that misinformation specialists are very successful in directing the general public to focus on lesser issues, creating big issues out of them and avoiding focus on the actual real huge issues.

And where do you think that money has gone? The free handouts given from the housing market are in the trillions. Much of the borrowed money you're referring to is sitting in housing equity.
Either you reclaim that wealth through property taxes or you devalue the pound. You certainly can't embark on a national housebuilding program when land values are near an all time high.

The idea is to reclaim it from the ultra wealthy, ending the non-Dom regime, increasing inheritance tax to include offshore assests and increasing taxes of private equity bosses and those who own more than one home. It's a bloody good start and due to commence in April.
The national housebuilding program is certainly long overdue but it seems extremely ambitious to me and a certainty to not hit close to the targets set.
