Forest v. Luton

Liverpool in R4!!!!

posted 6 days, 2 hours ago

The last time we played Luton at home was a traumatic affair. Cruising at 2-0, Steve Cooper came over all Tommy Cooper and made late substitutions that let Luton back into the game. At 2-2 the Luton fans jeeringly started chanting “2 – 0 and you F**cd it up”, I left the stadium in shock and, like me, Cooper and Worall started their shuffle towards the exit.

I’m particularly hoping to see good performances from the likes of Moreira, Carlos and Taiwo. Many supporters comment on how the goal against Wolves was only his first goal of the season, but, the Carabao cup appearance apart, when he was asked to play 120 + mins after being out for months, he has generally only got 5 mins here and there, at a stage of the game when Forest are pulling down the shutter.

The icing on the cake would be if we were, say, 3-0 up and Danilo came on for a cameo, the stadium filled with his song.

Really liked Moreira in the Newcastle game, looked a raw talent so would be great to see him get minutes

Luton's only won in recent times was against the sheep, so make of that what you will 🤣

Basically its a ‘free hit’ today, and doesn’t overly matter which way the result goes, in fact with Nuno getting his second MOTM in three months, and the potential banana skin that goes with it, I’d rather lose today than Tuesday.
I’m sure he’ll put out a very competitive team, which in reality should be too strong for a struggling Luton team, quite a few of the fringe players should get a game.
Miguel between the sticks, Taiwo up front and the likes of Toffolo with probably Yates, should be more than ample.
I fancy Forest too win this by two clear goals, but as I said, should we not win, it wouldn’t exactly spoil my day.

Forest XI: Miguel; Moreno, Boly, Morato, Toffolo; Ward-Prowse, Yates; Da Silva Moreira, Jota, Sosa; Awoniyi

Subs: Sels, Anderson, Wood, Hudson-Odoi, Dominguez, Elanga, Danilo, Milenkovic, Abbott

I think that progress in the cup will be a big plus in terms of giving fringe players game time and keeping up the team ethos of "We are all playing an important role". if fringe players have the possibility of sitting out the rest of the season, their morale could take a blow.

That is a pretty decent first XI, with an even stronger bench, quite impressive to see.
Play anywhere near our potential, and we should win this game by at least 2 goals.

That’ll do nicely, 2-0.
Start the build up for Tuesday, can’t wait.

Redemption complete! 🌳🔥 Forest beat Luton 2-0 in the FA Cup, erasing memories of that 2-2 draw & the chants of '2-0 and you f***ed it up.'

Doha, to be fair to the Luton fans, they were correct. I was at the game and just didn’t see us capitulating from there, I think Wood scored both of our goals, and missed about 5 other guilt edged chances.
But as you say, Redemption.
