Our Squad!

Here is a summary of players who are or have been touted for loan moves, open to be sold or simply a liability for one reason or another.

It is not pretty reading

Sanchez + most of our G/Keepers are questionable, not a top 4 keeper amongst them unfortunately

James, 250k per week genuine questions as to his ability to stay injury free

Fofana, 200k per week possible even more injury prone than James

Chilwell, 200k per week about to be sent out on loan, pure profit player

Viega> Sent out on loan
Dasasi> About to be sent out on loan
Anselmino> Recalled about to sent out on loan
Ugo > On loan
KDHall> in- out on loan
Kellyman> On loan
Felix> Being touted loan or 4sale
Broja> FCkd
Sterling> 300k per week FCkd
Nkunku> 4Sale
Carney> sold
Mudryk> well ? FCkd
DForfana> Injured
Willey> On loan

To my reckoning we have 18+ players all stuck in various states of uncertainty. It is 50% of the squad.

We have more players who are deemed loanable, saleable or unreliable than we do have senior first 25 man squad certainties.

The club seems to be trying to barter players against other players from other teams as a way to move players on, the issue with this is we pick up players who may seem to have potential, but are not necessarily suitable for the squad progression as a whole.

I actually think that this is going to be the ownership strategy for the forseeable future, at least until we can move the big earners off the books in the next 2/4 seasons

What about the other 139 players?

UCL qualification might be a bit of a game changer for you as the additional revenue will at least mean you have some boosted revenues to give some wriggle room in the market.

I read that Chelsea have achieved compliance over the last 2 years by selling the women's team and the hotel to yourself (the Group). Is there anything else left to sell.

The risk of how you approach buys is coming back to haunt you and someone like Mudryk is a classic example. Very expensive on a very long contract and he is far from living up to potential. You will struggle to move him on without making a loss, so may not be able to afford selling him.

I have always thought that once you embark on this strategy of selling youth to make revenue, and converting that into small amortisation costs on in buying replacements is a very difficult position to ween yourself off, unless you succeed in massively increasing revenues, long term.

You still look a decent team but recent form must be a worry and it is often the case that a new managers tactics take some time to be countered by opposition (see Ange). So if this current form is a sig nor more challenging times, it may be a worry to your chances of top 4/5

Dev, I actually think that the strategy is working from a financial perspective, but it is running the risk of slowing the progression down.

As for UCL ? long shot for sure, but due to the Premierships co -efficient it may well be 5 places available.

Fortunately we do have the club world cup competition this summer , which i believe does bring in significant additional revenue thankfully!

Its only worked so far because youve sold assets to yourself, and that was probably the plan all along.

Right now you may be feeling you need a deal or 2 to push for top 4 but are financially hampered and looking to off load . Not sure that's the result of a working strategy.

yeah, you keeping saying that Dev!

But like i said imo it seems as the financials are going in the right direction and that they seem to have optional 2 way get out clauses within the long term contracts.

They seem to be happy with getting returns equivalent to the amortization paid out when they sell & put players out on loan. They are building long term value with sell on clause stipulations when they sell players on.

These returns maynot be huge , but they must be significant enough for the club to use them in their business strategy.

Top4 ?

Personally i dont think we are even close to being a top side, more like top 6.

We will see where we really are come May!

We certainly are not over achieving with the talented individuals that make up our potential 25 man squad.

Selling assetts to ourselves, yes but that is part of the clubs value and the ownership seem to be savvy enough.

The downside of that is that the club is devaluing its core asset base. leaving less in the tank for the future.

But I cant see borrowing money to be an issue in the long run, as that is what the ownership do leverage assets to make money. it is in the DNA.
