Injured again, according to various news outlets.

The bloke should just retire.

If I were ill, especially with an illness causes by my work, then I wouldn't accept not being paid according to my contract! I doubt any of us here would. A contract is a contract IMO.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair point.
How far does it go though before the club should be afforded the right to cancel a contract?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I suppose that depends on the contract really but I very much doubt the PFA would go for anything to dilute player rights. I presume players that don't play miss out on bonuses. No player surely wants to be injured I don't think. I know it's frustrating though!

I genuinely think a player should only get a small fraction of their wages if they aren’t fit to play.

The real measure of the utd support for the players is the match attending fans particularly the away fans.
------------------------------------------------------------
Certainly fans are a lot more supportive at matches, though over the years I think that has declined a bit - I guess it's not realistic that social media culture has zero effect on attitudes of fans in the stadium. But either way, players spend time on social media and experience the toxicity seven days a week vs the support of authentic fans a few hours a week. We've heard of many examples of players saying they've been affected by it. Why would we assume that it doesn't change a player's sense of their relationship with the fans?
------------------------------------------------------------
They are professional football players who live for the buzz of crossing the white line for the 90 plus minutes and playing in front of thousands of fans.
As for social media I would imagine most players these days have a handle on the pitfalls and don't let a few nutjobs affect their relationship with their true fans
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So if I get this straight:
- Fans in the stadium are the only true fans
- Players shouldn't be affected by the behaviour of online fans, because they aren't true fans
- They should only be affected by the behaviour of true fans, who are supportive and loyal
- As a true fan, you hate Luke Shaw

How the feck do you get injured when you’re not playing? Useless feck. Get the green curtain out and shoot him.
