VDV still out vs United

What the feck is going on? Why the cloak and dagger secrecy? We're routinely told that it's about not taking any chances and that's it's not a recurrence of his two previous hamstring injuries yet here we are two weeks on from Elfsborg and he's not even getting 5 minutes.

If the guy needs surgery stop feckin waiting about and book him in. I really don't know what they're trying to achieve. He's clearly not right and in terms of recovery time, he should be healed so if he's still having issues, they're not going to suddenly disappear are they? Clearly something has gone awry.

I never thought I'd say this but come back Geoff Scott, all is forgiven. This reminds me of when Aaron Lennon had a small groin niggle and he ended up being out for the best part of a season and a half.

Players get injured. We get that. It happens. Especially when you play the way we do but seriously, the media blackout? They're all feckin lying to us. Ange is 100% not telling the truth regarding both VDV and Romero. Something is up. I don't think either will be playing again this season and they just don't want to inform us all.

Some serious injury bed wetting going on.

I aint gonna stress over a Daily Fail report.

What will be will be.

Wasn't Micky always pulling hamstrings at his previous club?

I seem to remember he had as a young lad, but his season before us was largely injury free.

May be that coach didnt make him run.

I wonder if the medical review and new head of medical has played a part, maybe a different opinion on how it is managed.

Posted an article about it here

Really hope both would be back long before now. We could and should be lining up with our first choice back 5 at the weekend. May see vicario and Udogie back at last. Udogie and Spence as full backs please.

Like I said at the time..... why bother with 45 mins against a pub side in the Europa when we didn't need him

I fear theres an arrogance to Ange that he doesn't listen to medical advice and probably not to he's coaches who might say his brand of football is killing us physically and doesn't get results.... I fear he lives in some weird idelological bubble.

You can get away with it in B Leagues but not at the highest level.. The game is too fast, to physical and rival managers are tactically superior.

This weekend's game screams "El Crapico"
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He had been training for a while and had been given an easy 45 minutes to ease him into the game. From all accounts Ange listened completely to the medical advice and was extra precautious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Caution is to, after the Elfsborg game, let him train for a week and give him 15 mins at the end of a Prem game to get him up to speed. Not no games at all. If he's not ready to play, it means he's injured or at least feeling something that might go again at high intensity. They can't just sit, wait and hope. They have to make a decision here. To not play one minute in the last two weeks suggests this is a recurrence or at least very close to one. I mean, is he even sprinting in training?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But he had a setback after the Elfsborg game?

I have had an issue with a lot of what Ange has done in terms of rotation and rushing the guys back early against Chelsea. However from all accounts he followed the correct process for VDV and the hamstring just got reaggravated .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but why? It strikes me that the physios/doctors don't know their arrrrse from their elbow if they couldn't make a call on whether VDV needed surgery back in November. If they were confident it wasn't required, I'm unsure why we're now in this position. Same for Romero. We don't even know what his issue is yet he's also had a setback. I'm not using this as a stick to beat Ange as ultimately that's unfair but there does seem to be this code of silence surrounding injured players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why do you think its that simplistic?

The human body and the nuances of injuries is so complex. Speaking to professionals I know that the best course of action is often to let it heal on its own, and if you aren't able to pick up anything through scans (often tough to read due to swelling) then taking exploratory surgery is the only option to truly tell what is going on and it is unnecessarily invasive typically. I know that a serious ACL injury, for example, can take 6-8 weeks for the swelling to subside before the doctors can do anything.

I just dont think its a coincidence that in every sport we have these issues, whether its Kawhi Leonard's knees, CTE related factors in the NFL, or the mystery around hamstrings and how to heal them with some players like Aguero, Owen or VDV having recurring issues.

VDV is selectable on fantasy football

No injury listed etc

It’s all a bit odd

50% chance on Vicario, udogie , Maddison, Johnson and Odebert (and Werner but meh)

Says Solanke back 26th

How reliable they are with this stuff no idea

I don't think it is and I agree that natural healing is always the way to go. Surgery, as with any form of medical diagnosis, should be a last resort.

I just think that there's a misalignment of communication happening here because VDV has already played earlier than he should have and pulled up again causing the second lay off, then Romero was back in training only to then be taken out so either the scans are being misread or the players are training in pain when they shouldn't be, exasperating the issue. Somewhere along the line there's an issue. I'd get it with one player, but two at the same time?

To tell the truth, I wouldn't mind any of it if we had a bit of transparency from the club. My feeling is they've known for a while both centre halves are out but they don't want to reveal that until it looks as though it only became apparent after the window closed. The closer to Feb 3rd they reveal it, the more toxic the response. We all knew we needed one more in after Dragusin's injury but we didn't do it. The fans will be apoplectic if they knew all along.

With vvD, he trained on Saturday after the Thursday game and that's when he alerted the coaches according to POK.

Alot of you are just throwing darts and trying stongarm his injury into the Ange out agenda.

No one knows the actual truth but keep pointing fingers in anger.

We don't need to know everything as other clubs could use the information as an advantage.

Just would be nice to know the truth luka you are right…..the secrecy is odd

Trying to link it to Ange though is ridiculous

When we first signed VDV I watched you tube clips to see what we weee signing as had never seen him play

Constant clips of lung busting sprints

So to try and link the same way he is playing now to how he appears he always played and that’s causing the problem / injury is stupid
