Queens Park Rangers 4 - 0 Derby County

QPR v DERBY COUNTY Championship #34

14th February 2025, Matrade, Loftus Road, London
Great date for a romantic night out - what could be better than a Friday night out at a non-significant ground in a non-significant area of London.

Another week in DCFC La La land. Sacked manager, first point at home for aeons and now a new manager according to Scouse.

So lots to talk about and another match thread.

A lacklustre draw at Pride Park with a team bereft of ideas and penetration - could have played for another 5 hours and not scored.

New manager bounce but what do we bounce with?

Team: Zetterström (GK), Nyambe, Clarke, Langås, Elder, Adams, Osborn, Mendez-Laing (C), Yates, Harness, Salvesen

Subs: Vickers (GK), Forsyth, Barkhuizen, Thompson, Goudmijn, Jackson, Rooney, Armstrong, Allen

Are there jobs available at Bolton?

Manager's job? They appointed Steven Schumacher earlier in the year.

@Scouse - I think a fair few become free agents. Forsyth, Wilson, Thompson, Barks and Washington. I thought NML's contract was expiring too but we gave him a 2 year extension.

I'd like Wilson to stay on but the others I'd bid goodbye to. Forsyth possibly for a coaching role.

Definitely Wilson. Forsyth will still be playing for Derby when we are all dead and gone. He will have seen off another 500 or so pretenders to his throne. Even if the sun should refuse to shine and the mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be Fozzy in a Rams shirt.

It’s a little known fact that “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin, written in 1969, was originally entitled “Thank You Fozzy”. In those days he was just a young pup, with only a few hundred appearances for Derby and barely half a dozen anterior cruciate repairs under his belt.

“If the sun refused to shine
I would still be watching Fozzy
If mountains crumble to the sea
There will still be Fozzy
Super Fozzy, gives his all
Super Fozzy, nothing more”

Record company pressure forced them to change the lyrics. Who knows what success they might have had otherwise? There were other offerings which were dealt a similar fate: “Whole Lotta Fozz”. “When The Fozzie Breaks (his ACL)” etc.

Have you been been on the ganja?

I’ve been on the Ganges, if that helps. At dawn, in the shadow of the Taj Mahal, watching the dhobiwallahs thrashing their clothes clean and witnessing a cremation on a boat floated on the water. Quite the experience.

Not up there with watching The Fozz of course, but it sticks in the memory.

The way things are going at the moment, I think we all need a chug on his hookah.
