It seems that for the foreseeable we'll be scrambling around in the transfer market to ensure financial compliance and also to bolster the squad. This is where I'm hoping we see a few steady Eddies come in.
Surely we can scour the free transfer market and sign some players in the 28-32 bracket that can come in and help guide the youngsters we have through their experience and knowhow. Obviously these players will need some athleticism as well, of course.
We would more than likely turned up our noses at Chris Wood but look at the impact he's had. Liverpool too benefitted from buying a steady Eddie in Milner and also had Henderson there who grew into the role becoming their best Captain since Hansen. They're not spectacular players but know their role and get others to play better. Constantly talking.
Which players are available on free transfers this Summer? I've seen Angel Gomes and Jonathan David mentioned. Do we think the club would consider selling Garnacho and Mainoo and getting these two for free? It may be something we have to!
Amorim has a tough job but I won't judge him, or Ineos, until he's had the Summer transfer window and a full season to get his ideas across. Call me an optimist but I reckon we'll be doing much better this time next year.
We need a few steady Eddies

That wasn’t my opinion though. Just reflecting what football was thinking at the time.
Amorim is awful.

I've just read it. It was your opinion, not others.

The way scouting systems are set up it seems we only appear to be looking abroad. We really should be looking in the lower leagues for more committed players. Wouldn't necessarily be steady eddies either, there's talent there.

Can we please leave the Amorim out vibe out of this discussion please? Plenty of other places to discuss that.
This is about Steady Eddies.

It's more like Eddie Stobart now as he's putting the breaks on and backtracking.

Jonathan David is an excellent player (despite what Kash says) and would be a good signing, although I think premier league proven is the way for United to go having got so many transfers wrong recently.
