On the right path?

There is no such thing as peace of mind at United, especially not with sporting results that are not worthy of the football club.

* Downsizing

Varane's latest remarks about United underline the need for downsizing at the club.

He is said to have said something like, "who was in charge was unclear, processes had to go through so many different roles which led to proper decisions not being made in time".

My opinion is that it is difficult to cut several hundred positions without having consequences in the short term. But when the organizational chart has been redrawn, and the employees are understood about their roles, I believe we will emerge stronger from this.

* Mentality
What consequences have there been that the working environment in the club has been unclear and with a lot of dead meat in the organisation?

Everything is connected to everything, I think it is reasonable to assume that the players do not have or receive the support they need (then the need can be discussed), but that we see that so many players perform better in other clubs indicates that the treatment is different. If the pressure is so enormous in our club versus other clubs, then the club must do something active to strengthen the mentality in the club.

Ratcliffe has previously used Real Madrid as a comparison, how they can play seemingly without pressure, and being the clear winningest club in the European Cup is fascinating. The players in Real Madrid (ec. Modric) have stated that this is about preparation. It is therefore reasonable to assume that our preparations for the sport have neither been nor are good enough.

* Finances, how to correct the finances of a club you own 30% of?

Impossible.

The high interest loans the club has must be repaid, and loans in total need to be dramaticly reduced, so that we can look ahead, and that will require full ownership I believe and not joint venture.

We have so many large investments that are necessary in the short term that it is frightening, that fresh capital must be added to United after years of emptying the club's coffers is a matter of course.

The ownership of United must be clarified further, hopefully there is an agreement on this that we as fans are not aware of.
How Ratcliffe now exposes himself by taking responsibility cannot possibly be without him having assurances that he will be able to buy United in the long term. Ratcliffe isn't exactly in his 20's either so it's not like he can wait out the Glazers.. But what do I know...

*Conclusion (if that's even possible)

The situation at United is unclear and complicated. As a fan, it is extremely taxing.

At the end of the day, we have to start winning football games. Our form is miserable and we are against the wind.

Fortunately, the wind can turn quickly, and the new organization at United is good at making quick decisions, much better than before, hopefully this will lead to better times.

This leads me to, are we on the right path?
How we could be so dramaticly worse that previously (even last season was terrible) is astonishing - we should have foreseen it and avoided it.
Varane comments certainly seems right and something we should correct, but is it right to do so, so rapidly when/if it comes at the expense of the sporting results which after all is our main object as Fotball Club? At least that's what Ratcliffe is said to be taken control of..

I particularly agree with the mentality. Under Fergie we appeared more determined, more focused. As it was the same season after season it was down to him.
