Djed Spence

What a "club signing" this guy has been.

Came to us with a bit of a reputation of having a questionable attitude, but had done very well at Forest, on loan from Boro, which is what convinced Spurs to spend £12m on him.

Conte took an instant dislike to the guy because he was signed from Levy's list, not Antonio's wish list and may be the guy wasnt ready at that time any way. But he did seem to have all the right attributes for a wing back.

SO after being largely ignored by Conte (playing 5 minutes over 4 sub appearances) he went on loan to Stade Rennais in Jan 23, where he made 7 starts before getting injured and missing the rest of the season.

He returned in the summer and Ange was happy to let him go on loan to Leeds. He picked up another injury, missing a dozen or so games at the start of the season but worked his way into the team. But in January, Leeds sent him back.

AT which point he was sent out on loan to Girona, with an option to buy reported for 8m euro. He played a full part in the 2nd half of their season and had seemingly overcome the injuries that had plagued him. Girona did not want to spent the 8m and Spurs were not prepared to renegotiate that deal.

So did a full pre-season with Ange, and despite missing out on the Europa squad, he made the matchday squad and bench from the start of the season.

He played a vital role in getting us passed Coventry in the EFL Cup and spared our blushed that night.

He started his first PL game in 15 December and has started 8 PL games since, missing only 2 with injury/illness. He's also started 4 cup games in that time.

NOW, Spence has given Ange a bit of a selection headache. His recent performances have often been MOTM level and he scored the vital 3rd at Ipswich at the weekend after another decent +7/10 showing by him. Much of this time, being played out of position on the left side.

Now surely an England call-up beckons with the likes of Shaw consigned to the scrap heap, and especially if Tuchel is considering wing backs.

It was good to see Udogie back in action vs Ipswich. He looked good going forward although he did tire. Porro got a bit of a rest. But is Spence now the first full back on the team sheet? Has he forced his way in as a starter?

Maybe first name on the team sheet for any player, let alone full back. He's been a top player for us since his involvement and it does show that recruitment has improved at the club.

Djed is the biggest positive to take from this season.

Biggest positive for me is Archie G

For an 18 year old to make the step up from Championship to Premier League and play in unnatural position and just get on with it shows he’s got a great attitude.

For me player of the season is between Archie,Spence or Kula.

Gray been a positive as well and I've rated his performances. Only reason I'd choose Spence is because we paid £40m for Gray so we were expecting a very talented youngster. With Spence he was left out in the wilderness so it's a bigger bonus if you like.

Again, Gray speaks to our improved recruitment, alongside many of the other recent signings. Werner and perhaps Richarlison are the only ones of note who have really let that side down.

Spence deserves praise for turning his career around. It's truly all on him and his attitude on the pitch is top class. He does the hard defensive yards as much as he does the easier attacking yards. Spence's recovery runs are full tilt and committed. He doesnt just jog back. His effort and his ability and especially his defensive qualities, have really impressed me.

Gray is a classy looking player, and i hope he's our 8 next season. Perhaps a bit too slight to be a 6 right now, but he is pretty press resistant.

Spence is an absolute revelation.

It’s strange, because he got a bit of positive PR in the Summer on our socials.

It’s bizarre that it’s taken him this long to break into the team because he’s an absolute baller.

Fantastic feet, great reading of the game, strong and absolutely rapid.
