CL Last 16 2nd legs...

Some great games last week, some rather one sided affairs too. It leaves a few games intriguingly balanced while other teams will need a miracle.

Today

Barcelona (1-0) Benfica - 17:45
The Spaniards survived a massive early setback to take a 1-0 win back home. Pau Cubarsi was sent off just 22 minutes into the Estadio da Luz, but Raphina scored the only goal an hour into the tie.
Tragedy struck Barca at the weekend, causing their tie to be postponed. Benfica had a comfortable 3-0 win over Nacional.
Can only see a Barca win here, Benfica missed a massive opportunity last week and will pay tonight with elimination.

Bayer Leverkusen (0-3) Bayern Munich - 20:00
Leverkusen need a miracle here, after 2 Kane goals and a Musiala effort has Bayern one foot in the next round. Leverkusen were reduced to 10 men last week, meaning Mukiele will miss out tonight.
One ray of light for the home side, Bayern haven't won at the BayArena in the last 3 visits, and Leverkusen won 3-0 last season in the league.
Think this game is done though, and the best Leverkusen can hope for is winning on the night.

Inter (2-0) Feyenoord - 20:00
Would be a huge shock if the Dutch side pull this one out of the bag - but a missed Zielinski penalty last week keeps them just about in this. Thuram and Martinez scored either side of the break to give Inter a 2 goal cushion.
Back in 2002 Feyenoord did win at the San Siro, a 1-0 first leg semi final victory in the UEFA Cup over Inter on their way to the trophy.
Inter will have more than enough this year.

Liverpool (1-0) PSG - 20:00
The tie of the round. PSG will still be wondering how they have a zero next to their name, while Liverpool will be confident of producing a far better performance on a European night at Anfield.
Both teams had big wins at the weekend, Liverpool coming back from a goal down to beat Southampton 3-1 thanks to 2 Salah penalties and a Nunez opener. Demebele was PSGs own 2 goal hero, with Barcola and Ramos also netting in a 4-1 away win at Rennes.
You feel PSG will have to score first and early here, or the demons from last week will haunt them.
I think Liverpool will win on the night.

Tomorrow

Lille (1-1) Dortmund - 17:45
Wednesdays action starts with the only tie that is still level - so winner takes all.
The first leg saw Dortmund take an early lead through Adeyemi but a second half equaliser courtesy of Haraldsson gives Lille the slight advantage of home.
Lille won 1-0 over Montpellier at the weekend while Dortmunds poor domestic form continues with a 1-0 home defeat to Augsburg. Last seasons CL finalists find themselves in 10th and struggling to even qualify for next seasons competition.
Very hard to call, I wouldn't be surprised by a 0-0 and penalties.

Arsenal (7-1) PSV - 20:00
Game over.

Aston Villa (3-1) Club Brugge - 20:00
2 late goals last week put Villa in a very strong position. Bailey and de Cuyper exchanged goals in the first 12 minutes, but with 8 minutes to go an own goal edged Villa into a lead before Asensio converted a penalty to give the English side a buffer.
The Belgium side did get a good 3-1 away win at the weekend in a testy derby with Cercle. Villa had a hard fought 1-0 away win at Brentford.
Villa did the hard work last week, and I expect them to finish the job.

Atletico Madrid (1-2) Real Madrid - 20:00
Real take a slender lead across Madrid in this local derby. After going behind to a 4th minute Rodrygo goal, Julian Alvarez squared the first leg on the half hour mark. Brahim Diaz, though, reinstated the Real lead 10 minutes into the second, and the champions of Europe have the advantage.
Atletico had a massive shock at the weekend, when Getafe netted twice in the last few minutes to beat them 2-1. Real were the right side of a 2-1, against Vallecano.
The winners will almost certainly meet Arsenal in the Quarters, so both teams will probably try and lose this so it could be a fun game.
I predict Real will take a draw at the Metropolitano.

Quarter draw:
Arsenal/PSV vs Real/Atletico
PSG/Liverpool vs Brugge/Villa

Barcelona/Benfica vs Dortmund/Lille
Munich/Leverkusen vs Feyenoord/Inter

It will be interesting having 3 English sides in that half of the draw. It means that there is a highly likelihood that at least one of them, maybe even two of them, make it to losing to Real Madrid on Real Madrid's way to the final.
