We've got a semi...

United's highly talented U18s are taking on Aston Villa in the FA Youth Cup semi-final tonight at Villa Park. Last year the U18s were by far the best team in the country at this age group, winning everything except for the Youth Cup, having gone out in a freak defeat to Swindon. They are looking to rectify that this season, and extend our record of 11 trophies in the competition.

Early team news tells us that Chido Obi-Martin (who missed the narrow win against Arsenal in the previous round because he had been included in the senior squad) will be available tonight. Maybe a clue that he won't feature against Forest tomorrow.

Anyway, if you happen to be close to Birmingham, tickets are apparently available. Otherwise, the match will be streamed on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGUZVaOTWlI

Kick off 7pm.

1-1 at Half Time. Villa have also missed a penalty just after United equalised. All to play for!

1-1 at full time. Extra time incoming.

Lots of players look like they’re on their last legs here. Particularly the Villa bunch. Been a few down with cramp already.

United have been uncharacteristically poor in large stretches. At times too rushed, at times too sluggish and uninventive. Villa probably deserved to win in it in normal time, but United will be favourites now, I’d think.

Congrats to Villa

Better over 90 mins, better over 120 mins, and kept their heads where United lost theirs in the shootout.

The United lads will be disappointed with their display, but this should be a lesson for them. They’re a cut above Villa man for man, but pretty shambolic today. You can’t just turn up and expect to win games, and they were outfought, outsmarted and outplayed today.

Yeah, poor performance

The 18s obviously weren’t happy about this result and have taken their anger out on Leeds. Currently winning 9-0 at ht with 6 goals for Musa and 3 for Thwaites.

Pretty pathetic second half from United. Bailey 10-0 up but Leeds pulled one back with an intelligent finish from Keneth Mensah.

Armer made it 11-1 and 14 year old wonderkid JJ Gabriel scored two in the 90th minute to give United a 13-1 win and became the 18s’ youngest ever scorer in the process.
