Watching what Arsenal did to Real Madrid over two legs, reminded me of some of the great English teams in Europe of the past. It isn’t so often that a new chapter in European football is written by an English side by way of an iconic result or performance…
Whether you think of Klopp’s Liverpool executing Barca, Pep’s City throttling Madrid or Fergie’s United vs Barca ‘08, you knew in each case that the manner of the win would mean that they’d go on to lift the European Cup. In each instance, it felt like stars aligning and an inevitable outcome for the final game of the competition.
Psychologically for Arsenal to do that to Real Madrid over two legs, will give them that belief and togetherness as a squad which will see them finally lift that elusive European trophy. Arteta has totally turned that club around since he took over in 2019 and it’s about to pay off.
The remaining sides in the competition will all fear Arsenal. Inter aren’t as powerful as Arteta’s men, Barca are dangerous but look fatigued, PSG only just managed to scrape past Villa and had to rely on penalties to beat a vastly overrated Liverpool side. Arsenal are huge, huge favourites.
Beaten nearly 20 years ago by Barcelona, it feels like finally this will be their year in Europe.
And you know what? They deserve it. Thoroughly.

I feel more sorry for them now. Especially Ange. He’s a good manager but, similar to Arsenal, injuries have killed his team.

i dont see why not, they should be very confident, other sides left concede far easier than they do. the solid nature aligns well with a CL winning side. depressing though

This's the weakest CL ever. Worst Real Madrid team with injuries like City in PL. City the same like themselves in PL. Bayern are now like Frankfurt. Juventus are still in transitions like Chelsea in PL. Milan like Man U. Then you see Arsenal good in CL like Forest in PL. 🙃

Inter have conceded fewer goals in all comps than Arsenal, so not sure you can say they concede easier.
