We're in talks to buy him apparently. Well, according to Romano anyway!

Perhaps yesterday wasn't a complete waste of time then as Amorim did seem keen on speaking with him!

I read this morning that Jonathan David has scored more goals than Osimhen in the last four seasons. He'd cost less too in wages. I wouldn't be against selling Zirkzee and Hojlund and getting in Cunha, David, and Delap. The outlay wouldn't be all that massive either.

That has a slight championship manager feel to it in terms of signing players......

We've tried everything else!

Realistically, I can see us signing one top striker. Zirkzee and Hojlund most likely get another pre-season and see how they go next year in support of that striker
A decision to be made on whether Rashy stays or goes.
Hopefully we also address the GK situation, also maybe another CM also. But I doubt we bring in more than 3 or 4. CB would be nice but liveable with for the time being.

Jonatan David is a poor mans Emile Heskey.

Wow, that really is bottom of the rung stuff

Kinsang - I don't see Cunha as a 'proper striker' in the sense of the CF Arsenal is lacking. He's more of a false 9 if he plays as a striker, or an attacking midfielder. He'd definitely improve their squad, but I'd see him more like another high class player who can play the Havertz / Odegaard roles. I guess they might see him as a more prolific version of Havertz.
Tomatoes - I've never been greatly impressed when watching Jonathan David, but I also acknowledge I can only have a superficial impression of him, having seen only a handful of his matches. Maybe you've watched Canada / Lille avidly over the last few years. Anyway, I think we have to be realistic about our recruiting power at the moment. We simply don't have much money to spend. A really transformative striker will cost an enormous fee, and if he's available well below market value due to expiring contract, the premium on his wages will eat up most of that saving. So we either so much on the striker that we having nothing to invest in all the other gaping holes in our squad, or we invest pragmatically in someone who isn't a world beater but is a good profile fit and at the right stage of his career. That's why David on a free might be worth considering. That said, his stats tell a better picture than the eye test, so I would imagine total cost of ownership wouldn't be cheap, and there will be competition for his signature from clubs who are higher up the pecking order than us at the moment.

RR.- I can actually see what people like about him but he has been a type of player we have avoided from the times of Fergie.
I'll be honest, the fascination with the mythical striker won't end the way we hope for it. Fie one football has evolved a lot more from that requirement. Of course we need a goal scorer, but its now expected from the attacking midfielders and even wide players. That's why I'm more hopeful of Cunha than any striker. I get the feeling a spectacular wingback will make a difference than that striker.
Can I add that maybe we should sign a lot more players tested in the prem too? I'm seeing players who left us shining in other leagues and I'm thinking if we want the sure thing that is the best approach. Prem, championship players. We can't have players trying to settle for long.

Very unlikely we win europa, so we likely have a very low budget

"Very" unlikely? I don't have us down as favourites, but Bilbao could go either way, and then in a final it's a coin toss vs Spurs or we're heavy favourites against Bodo Glimt. For what it's worth, the bookmakers have us a narrow favourites to beat Bilbao. Spurs are narrow favourites to win the Europa, but only because they are heavy favourites to win their semi-final. United will be resting the squad in the league now, so we should expect a better level of performance against Athletic. Also sounds as though Nico Williams (who is genuinely scary to play against) may be unavailable for the first leg.

I'd fancy us in the final vs either Bodo or Spurs tbh. I know Spurs have beaten us a few times already this season but push comes to shove in a must win game I'd fancy it.
Bilbao is what worries me most. They are arguably the strongest most well balanced team left in it and have added incentive as the final is taking place in their own back yard. If we come through that tie I think we'll do it however I'm not entirely confident we will. If Amad is available for both ties I'd be more confident we can do it.

There is no way Amad can have any effect on this, he's not even played a game yet. Let's hope Bruno is well rested because if there's any game we are going to need him it's this one.
