On April 23, 2025, YouTube celebrates its 20th anniversary. What began in 2005 as a simple platform for sharing videos has grown into a global powerhouse that transformed entertainment, education, and online culture.
From the first-ever video, “Me at the zoo," to viral sensations, music revolutions, and livestreaming milestones, YouTube has reshaped how the world watches and creates content. With over 2 billion users, it remains a go-to hub for creators and viewers alike.
Two decades in, YouTube continues to evolve—proving that anyone with a camera and a story can reach the world.

Any specific memories of Youtube for anybody on here? Can you remember the first video you ever watched? First channel you subscribed to? Or did you simply upload videos to harass cows like a certain user from the Spurs board did that time.

First video I watched on Youtube was the 2000 First Division play-off final highlights, Barnsley v Ipswich.
Man City had gone up automatically that year, and Ipswich were in contention for the Champions League I think until the last game in the following season. That was some achievement for them.

I'd try but it's less fun when the tickly bit reminds you of that time you were out of shaving gel but you still pressed the top for about 40 seconds before just about enough oozed slowly out the nozzle to lube up the stiffest bristles.
