Rooney on MOTD

Obviously I didnt get to watch the Brentford game on TV yesterday, nor did I attend the game, so I watched MOTD highlights last night which is something I dont often do when United get beat.

It was almost interesting to see our Wazza as a pundit on there and what he (and Danny Murphy, always like him) had to say about United at the moment. They highlight players 'switching off' with no physicality or work rate and younger players filling the ranks in Amorims rigid system having being coached and currently playing under different systems in the academy teams. WTF?

Sounds like a receipe for confusion and calamity. I wonder if Ruben Amorim watches MOTD, too.

And there’s a limited amount we can do about those things without changing players, particularly the physicality.

___

wherein lies the conundrum for all connected to Man United. We cant buy unless we sell. We cant sell if buying clubs cant /wont match the wages of the players Amorim needs to sell. So United continue to wind down their contracts or try and loan them out and want to sell our better and home grown players who Amorim doesnt fancy will 'work in his system'. Meanwhile we continue playing 'his system' that the players can't play and even ask the next generation of academy players who play amd train for a different system week on week to fill in when required. And the chite results keep being posted in the PL.

There are players in there who know they won’t be there next season. That in itself is something that will cause problems and we just have to hope that a proper summer with a squad he wants will do the trick.

Being a pundit is easy - you watch a game , say what is wrong and what needs fixed. But as always, getting that done is the tough part.

If it was easy, someone would have come in and done it all. So many issues at Utd, some may not agree with how Amorim is trying to change it, but you honestly think he doesn't know what the problems are?

My biggest issue is how this is harming the development of the younger players - coming into an underperforming squad can't be good for them

As to the Academy, they change up systems, approaches and player positions and roles there quite a lot, which, rightly or wrongly, is part of their strategy.

Although to my knowledge (and unlike the U21s), the U18s haven’t played any single game this season with any setup utilising three at the back.

If Amorim is to stay and the upper echelons of the hierarchy are determined to give him a real run (by which I mean another two to three seasons, come what may), that needs to change IMO. We should be preparing the kids for the system our DoF/technical team wants to carry forwards.

A better solution is Ruben needs to be less of a stubborn bastaeerrrrdd with his footballing tactics or sack him before he puts us into the pits of hell for another decade after these rubbish owners give him another few hundred million to spend on garbage suited for a garbage system.

What I think.... is that the manager of any club should play to the strenghts of the players at his disposal if they want to be successful. This includes Amorim. The way for success in the PL isnt exclusivly by playing 4-3-4 and his variations.

However Amorim insistis that it his way or the highway and INEOS knew that from the start. So they must have either promised him a new bunch of triathelete type players... or most likely, along with Ruben didnt realise that the players we have cant do it his way but thought that a new squad trasnplant would be easy, because we are the famous Man United. They also should have known that the players United have assembled are actually quite poor and cant/wont perform under any system really as was proven by the previous managers efforrts. Most supporters could have told them both that.

INEOS cant sack him because it makes them look more stupid than the actually are for appointing him when they did....so they are going to have to back him despite the cost its going to do that. Which is probably why the INEOS gang are falling out with each other blaming each other for the mess.

United cant afford to operate they way we do/have without CL money and winning trophy money. So they try and squeeze their loyal fan base by making them pay more for tickets etc and sacking a lot of the poorer paid workers at OT, whilst promising jam next season when the new players they bring in by selling the current lot to pay for them. In that respect Amorim has made things worse

If we dont win the Ropey this season there will be no CL yet again. Sponsors money will dwindle. If they cant sell players like Sancho Antony Rashford Hojland Nacho Maguire Dalot Minoo etc Jim will tighten the squeeze on fans and workers. And will probably have to dump another £300m cash injection to bail the club out before long. Plus buy out the Glazers and build the biggest and best stadium in the World.

*I mean amorim has made it worse by making these crap players play a system that is harder for them than the previous manager made them play

One thing I am sick of hearing and granted it is only a few now, is the tired excuse that he has not had a full pre season with the players.

He has now had around six months training these players and although early on we saw bits of improvement there is nothing now.

We are showing no signs what so ever that he can get these players to play any kind of football.

The only thing in his defence is how woeful our attack has been.

Im sick of tired of hearing that results dont matter anymore at Man United.

errrr, they do actually.

We have had that from the beginning of Amorim and ever since weve been safe in the PL simply because there were 3 teams a lot chitter than United. Now we are being told that PL results dont matter even more now since we beat Lyon a couple of weeks ago. I get that we need and want to win the Europa League but United still have a responsibility to its paying fans in the grounds and those watching on TV subscriptions. Which brings me round to the point of this article which is what Rooney and Murphy say in the clip... its clear that our chite players are still chite and are not putting the required effort concentration and passion that it takes to play for this badge. And that is also down to the manager to sort out. Why is Mainoo, Amad and Garnacho for example 'switching off'. Its unacceptable. I understand that as long as we see week on week, month on month progress from the coaches and players then that is the bigger picture right now and this progress will back the glory days some day. But the truth is that we dont and things are getting worse. If it gets much more worse next season and there arent 3 teams chitter than United in the PL then we are in big trouble.

So Nacho is up for sale for £65m this summer.

Just think what we can replace him for with that.

2/3 of Antony? Another Hojlund or Mount?

Dont make me laugh
