Ok a silly hypothetical I know, but if someone had offered you 17th but the Europa trophy at start of the season, would you have taken it?
I think I would have, so if we do end up winning the Europa, it’s goes down as a successful season in my book, gets the trophy monkey of our backs and puts an end to all that banter and memes etc
I’ve also always felt that to become a successful club at some point you have to win the first trophy and build - City began with the FA cup, Chelsea with the League cup, etc
We need that first trophy to kick on as a club
I do feel however that the league season has been nothing short of scandalous and it will end up being our worst ever Premier league and in the bottom 3 seasons OF ALL TIME for Spurs !
Only Spurs could have such a calamitous season and yet reach a final of a major European trophy - if we were to win it, probably the lowest finishing Euro winner of all time ………

It would have been great season should Sours win the Europa.
Feck the league. Only places worth worrying about are top and bottom three. And none of those places are where Spurs will be finishing.

No normally I wouldn't. But given that Spurs were not going to finish much higher than 12th if they played full strength from a couple of months back, and then got dumped out of the Europa. What would be the point?
Obvious from a long way back that Europa was the target. Same with United. And one of the clubs is going to be successful. I happen to think uf Spurs get the strongest available team on the pitch in Bilbao, they will win the Europa.

Grand...I have to make a comment here for the record.
.....The players did not give up, or not try hard, they played their hearts out and lived with miserable results.
I cannot remember how things went wrong...I think there were key injuries early on that decimated the first eleven.
That was Postecoglu's excuse.
Also.. I do not beieve he can manage in the Premiership...his ideas and knowledge are lacking.
But injuries were part of the blame.

Winning a trophy. A European trophy.
Qualifying for the Champions League.
Of course it would be a successful season as Spurs never win anything but if it results in the manager keeping his job it's only going to result in more pain.
If Spurs win the Europa and say bye to Ange, they've got CL money and prestige a squad much better than they've been allowed to show this season. It would be huge for Spurs and any new manager has a great chance of flying up the table next season.
In years to come nobody will care you finished just outside the drop zone but it would be your most prestigious European trophy.
