Enough of the doom and gloom

How do we think next season will go.
It has to be done without knowing the ins and outs.
So you have to use your intuition of our likely sales and purchases.

I believe we will finish at least in the top six.
The reason being that I think Ruben will learn from this season and be a little more flexible.
The keeper will be replaced, and a new striker found. Obi could be the man, though I have doubts, or possibly a purchase.
Ruben will introduce more and more youth as the season progresses, with mainly success, though that's not guaranteed.

It will be far more exciting than this season, because there will be more wins, and youth, and plans coming to fruition.
This isn't to say exactly the outcome of the season, just a feel of how it will go.

Happy summer everyone.

Turns out the people saying he's a reliable source aren't correct. Still just a rumour.

I was reading something written by a Sporting fan the other day about how they were kind of a mess, but Amorim took the team on some overseas training camp and no-one really knows what he did, but when the team came back they were ready to run through walls, fight for each other and leave everything on the pitch.

It'll be interesting if he can put something like that together, or if the toxicity of the club is too far gone.

It'll also be interesting to see if the higher-ups give him an opportunity to try something like that, or if they get dragged all over the USA playing Prem teams in unbearable heat every other day for a bit of $$$.

Sounds like some sort of pagan 5hit.

A bit of soggy biscuit perhaps?

With our players, they would miss the biscuit................

Depends on whether Amorim can adapt to premiership football. Not clear so far.

With this manager I cannot see us getting any better than we are now other than getting a few more goals if we get a decent finisher in.

Once he gets sacked and we get a competent manager in then we will improve.

I hope I am well wrong.

We need Conte in over the summer. He sounds perfect for us. If we stick with Amorim until October or Novem then who will we be able to get in when he gets fired?

Forest went from 15th to 7th in one season. It's not impossible we could do the same or perhaps even go one better and get 6th but our transfers are all going to have to successes for that to happen.

Presumably why we appear to be targeting PL based players.

A lot is going to ride on who we sell too. Impacts everything.

Exactly. Just get the new owners to buy loads of good players the club cant afford, ignore PSR regulations, accept the independent commissions punishment for breaching them (say a 4 point penalty) and then get the World class Portuguese manager to start winning every week with the much stronger squad he has been given.

I'm optimistic about next season. I don't think our final league position is an accurate reflection of our squad, it's clearly far more capable. As disastrous as its been, it's a matter of severe under performance rather than a genuine show of the level the squad is at.

Recruitment will be important (water is wet) but I also don't think the context of this season can be ignored. Changing manager part way through, all the turmoil with ownership and what's gone on at the club, the Rashford situation, injuries and general doom and gloom compounding to a point I feel it's affected the team.

I think Cunha is a great start. A player with a bit about him, who clearly wants the club more than the competitions it's competing in. His ability to drive forward with the ball is something we're severely lacking and Amorim's system relies on his 10s to be able to do.

With a host of inevitable outs and with some decent recruitment, if done swiftly, can see the team go on pre season with a very different look. Have the right characters in there and I'm optimistic the squad togetherness will be significantly different to this season.

Ultimately, I can't control or influence any of it. I don't know how next season will go but I'm not going to spend my summer being miserable and pessimistic.

It's a new dawn; it's a new day. And I'm feeling goodish.

(1) The league performances once we got to the final stages of Europa league were awful. I think without that we'd have got another 10 points.

(2) Our lack of a striker probably cost us another 15-20 points over the course of a season. You can see that by our XG to Goals ratio.

Add those together, we're probably around 8th. Then, (3) consider that players will have had a whole pre-season to get used to a system. (4) You'd hope that we won't suffer the same level of injuries and (5) young players such as Heaven, Yoro and Dorgu will have some experience. So, I don't think it's unrealistic for us to be in the hunt for top 4. Whether we make it, I don't know but Aston Villa were in the hunt on the final day. Judging by the last game, would you say we can't aspire to that level? A key difference is that there won't be the pressure of expectation.

I think a lot depends on how we start. Start well and there'll be belief.
