No reoccurrence issues post surgery is a strong first step, and played 1,500 minutes in the end to boot.
Signs are overwhelmingly positive, going into next season can level up the intensity & start multiple matches per week. At the same time be wary of running him into the ground (which Tuchel did).
(Core untouchables as it stands - Reece James, Levi Colwill, Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson).

Recce, I’m really glad that he has had a strong return.
Personally my feelings are that if he does continue to be a ten games a season player , he is a luxury player taking up one of the few top player wage slots , what he brings needs to be exceptional 9x from 10 when he does play.
He does seem to living up to expectations, we are a better side with him for sure.
If he becomes unmanageable due to his historic injury vulnerabilities, then imo we may be justified in cutting our losses, I truly hope that we don’t need to go that route .

He’s been okay. Nowhere near the James we saw 3 seasons back. But that’s more to do with the role he plays now. Rarely gets into wide positions to get crosses in and is mostly deployed as a 3rd CB under Maresca. I think Gusto being really rubbish is making James look a lot better.

He’s defensively awful and lost all his pace so offensively isn’t as good
He should be a CB or out the team
Still prefer Gusto , Gusto is 20 and quality, one bad game/half doesn’t make him terrible

It pains me to say it, but Oscar and Superb are correct. The only thing James has done slightly better this season than others is not getting injured, but the fact that he basically plays 30mins every week or so probably helps this. He is now at best a glorified sub, who apart from turning up with the odd cross or free kick doesn't do anything particularly well. Floats around in midfield is the best we get out of him. Wouldnt be so bad if he wasnt one of our highest earners. Needs to start earning that money next season, and if he can only play 30 mins a week, that honestly isn't much better than him being injured and for me he's taking up a valuable squad position. Cos the problem here is, it isn't prime James, prime James for 30mins a week IS worth it, this version of James that honestly is imo only slightly better D-H isn't.

Always liked James...hated his fitness levels
The best version of him is world class....there are other versions on show at times though
