or more likely lack of it? I thought it a reasonable time to ask this question given the opening of the transfer window today. It hasn't been a good start to the preparations for life in the Championship, a month has already been wasted since our relegation was confirmed with no sign of a decision on which Manager may be in charge going forward as the clock ticks rapidly towards pre-season. Worse still is Rudkin is still in position.
Giving the club credit where it is due, in addition to Vardy's farewell, both Ward and Iversen have also left the club. No sign of clearing out the rest of the deadwood or other transfer moves in or out, but this is not a surprise given the lack of managerial certainty.
Looking at the bookies thoughts on our prospects, they have us not even making the playoffs; no doubt due in part to the impending severe points deduction(s) coming from the EPL/EFL. I wouldn't expect much mercy from them, as they presumably seek revenge on us making them look like mugs in court. The bookies will no doubt also be factoring in the uncertainty surrounding the club about the Manager. Where we are in the betting stakes is in stark contrast to the two other relegated clubs who have much shorter odds on promotion than us and the rest of the teams.
There are rumours abounding about a managerial change being likely, with various possibilities being bandied about. The Russell Martin one seems to have cooled a bit thank goodness, although until a change is made there is always the possibility that the club will decide to stick with Ruud, despite his appalling record with us and complete lack of experience at the lower level. What is worrying about the Martin rumour is that seems to be an indication of a continuance with playing the 'Man City lite' way - which might get you out of the Championship but would give a team ill-equipped to make a fist of surviving the first season in the Premier League.
I did renew my season ticket so to end on a more positive note, we've got an extra 4 home games to look forward to with (I think) no VAR?
Have we progress

Get well soon owf.
Seems to me a repeat of the last few years,
Make some speculative enquiries with managers,,
Have a sniff around at some signings
Then when the club finds out there punishment
See if we can afford anyone or has someone been rejected by all the big clubs and pay £5 million over the top for them on 5yr contract £70'000 a week,
Oh and keep V N if no one else fancies the job
But don't say anything to him incase we find a new manager or don't

Thanks for your good wishes Nuneaton and Dubs. Not much chance of that I’m afraid, but I’m still taking the tablets!
All the best to you both.

In my dreams I'm hoping that all this inaction is due to a takeover happening. Maybe a Lineker led consortium is buying the club as we speak, which will lead to a clear out of our esteemed directors, the appointment of a respectable manager, and a bit of enthusiasm for the club.
In reality the owner is sitting on his hands not knowing what to do. He knows Rudkin isn't performing but doesn't know how to replace him. Rudkin has been wiping the owners bottom, footballwise, for the last few years. Top is clueless, Rudkin is in limbo, leaving RVN in limbo, and the club tumbling towards turmoil.
If you need a hand sorting this out Top, DM me!

I suspect the inactivity surrounding the manager’s position relates more to PSR than not knowing what to do. It seems likely that to avoid getting into difficulties by having to pay off RvN on the current accounting period, the act will fall on July 1st, in next year’s accounting period, which will of course reduce the funding available for the host of new players we are going to need.

In which case Top hasn't learnt any lessons from delaying action on changing the manager (see Rogers, Brendan) having much worse impacts down the line than any perceived financial benefit with the change happening later.
Instead of saying goodbye to Ruud the day after we were relegated and being able to get someone new in to be involved in the planning for the crucial summer period, we're drifting towards preseason with no apparent plan in place. The omens for next season are looking bad.

Well, we know now that the next manager won't be Russell Martin, which I am sure will be a relief for most Leicester fans.
I wasn't as opposed to him as the majority were, mainly I think because I don't have the instinctive repulsion to possession-based football that those on Foxestalk and inside the KP have. I didn't think he would have been the right fit and he would have fallen out with the fanbase very quickly - he definitely falls into the camp of 'possession for the sake of possession' camp rather than the 'possession to create chances and play good football' one. But I do think we would have had a better chance of Top 6 with him than many of the other names, including Ruud.
The longer the complete lack of any kind of impetus from within the club continue, the more it increases the chances of Ruud staying on as manager. Which we all know will result in an early sacking around October/November time with the club in 17th place (lower if we get a points penalty) and then it's an uphill task to even get play offs. But it's also a very likely scenario given the complete lack of competency and urgency from the ownership and the inability to realise just how bad they are running the club at the moment.

I'm very happy that Martin is now safely ensconsed at Rangers, I think we dodged a bullet there. If we're looking to the longer term, the aim is to re-establish in the EPL and I just don't see the 'Man City lite' method working at doing that. Martin showed that last season. Yes it has been proven to have the potential to get you out of the Championship, but also been sadly lacking when it comes to competing against the much superior level of players in the higher division.
It looks like the club are waiting for the new financial year before getting rid of Ruud, which is a mistake in my view. Whilst still in position, there is the suspicion that he could be retained as manager, which I agree is a potential disaster in the making (more heading for League 1 than a triumphant return to the Premier League).
The total lack of communication from the club about what's happening is frustrating to say the least, although not altogether unexpected. They have shown total ineptitude in that department in recent times - confirmation of our return to the championship being one of the latest examples rather than what supporters would call 'Being relegated. Again'.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Good contributions from everyone and I agree with most of what has been said. I also believe Martin would have quickly fallen out with the fan base and isn’t right for us long term.
However I hope there is more of a plan going on than appears outwardly. It seems clear RvN is going July 1st after our latest accounts. Fine as long as the planning process with his successor is already happening. If we lose him on that date and there is no impending appointment I will be as angry as even BS/99/98 with the incompetent handling of that!
Next season will be a mess that is for sure. PSR is now doing the opposite of what was intended and is making us an unsustainable club. The rules need to be changed to allow for a reset after relegation. Instead we’ll be hamstrung and I agree with the premise that the leadership of player needs to come under a strong manager with a strong short and mid term plan.
The next 3 weeks will be absolutely critical in our hopes for the next season and beyond. Let’s see what happens.

I’m going to answer the original post with the obvious answer:
We make the right managerial appointment who can get the players that want to stay performing for a cause in very challenging circumstances like Pearson did all those years ago.
Easy to say.
