Your go-to comfort movie?

For me it’s Risky Business. I legit watch it twice a month.

There’s something about Risky Business that just hits different. It’s my go-to comfort film — not because it’s light or funny in the usual way, but because it wraps you in a kind of dreamy, untouchable mood that you can slip into no matter what’s going on in your life. And at the heart of that feeling is Tangerine Dream’s score — hypnotic, ambient, and strangely emotional. It doesn’t just accompany the film; it elevates it, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy in a way that stays with you long after the credits roll.

What I love most is how Risky Business captures that liminal moment between adolescence and adulthood — the thrill, the confusion, the quiet anxiety. Joel’s story isn’t really about rebellion or seeex or making money, though all of that’s in there. It’s about that weird floating space where nothing feels quite real and everything seems possible. The music, the visuals, the way the city looks through Joel’s window — it all creates this hazy atmosphere that feels less like a movie and more like a memory you can’t quite place.

It’s comforting not because it’s simple, but because it leans into ambiguity. There’s melancholy beneath the surface. There’s risk. There’s beauty in not knowing how it’ll all turn out. Watching Risky Business feels like stepping into a dream that knows exactly how you feel — and somehow, lets you feel okay in it.

What movie could you watch over and over again?

The Godfather/2/3..

great films.. I don't think 3 was as bad as people like to make out either.. some obvious poor bits but I thought for story telling, it finished it off nicely, wasn't many, if any inconstancies, which is a positive for me...

They are on far too long to be a comfort film.

Who watches the Watchmen?

Me, at least twice a year since it came out.

Finally got to see the extended version about 4 or 5 years ago.

I do love that film and as the years go by it really stands up well to other movies of the genre. The extended version with Gerard Butler is decent but for me unnecessary. It’s a movie that really stays with you and the Dr Manhattan stuff is *chefs kiss.

Yes it's as solid now as ever, certainly my most watched film over the last 15 years.

I really didn't know what to expect with the extra animated bit, it certainly contrasts to the rest of the film but I can see the way he was trying to mirror the main story's outcome.

I still chuckle every time they're "doing it" in Archie, and at the *climax* he accidentally hits the flamethrower button

This Is Spinal Tap, probably my most watched film ever.

Just simple lines, intertwined

Both are easy to watch. I probably prefer WMCJ. Snipes and Harrelson played off each other well
