Looks like when picking your AFL side you picked well as this year the Bulldogs are peaking nicely and as well as having this best player in the league (Marcus Bontempelli), they have a 21 year old generational talent - yes I went there - Sam Darcy. He’s 6ft 10 and without exaggerating he’s got the physicality of Duncan Ferguson mixed with the finishing skill of Van Persie.

He broke his leg earlier this season and came back in record time so he’s a tough player and is only going to fill out and get tougher. Genuinely a superb talent so if you’re still watching AFL keep an eye on him as he could be the GOAT at this rate.

I've not caught as many games on TV as I'd have liked as I've had a lot of work trips in spring / early summer, but I've been checking the scores and noted the Dogs are doing nicely.
I wonder, is this going to follow the same pattern for me as with football? I started supporting United in the 80s when we were mainly rubbish, and then we got really good and I had to live with people assuming I was a glory supporter. Fast forward ~4 decades and I latched onto the Bulldogs, for a mixture of arbitrary reasons and the vibe of the supporters, and they were not doing great at the time. If they stuff Collingwood in the final this year, I'll take the stigma!

At least there is internet article evidence of your lucky timing and when the Doggies are dominating you can point to your 2023 conversion and say ‘see, I’m legit’.
And if they beat Collingwood many people will love the Dogs for many reasons.

When I came back from Melbourne last year I gave my twin sons guernseys - Bulldogs and (they're not going to want identical stuff and the colour scheme is cool) Essendon. They haven't worn them once since then. They're both going off to university in September (which I'm dreading) and I'm totally going to steal the Bulldogs one back and wear it when I play football.

Interestingly so many kids grow up (Essendon) Bombers fans here as their kit is cool and they are a huge name. Kinda like us as they have loads of trophies but are in a fallow period. Spread the Bulldogs word amongst English soccer fans and get the AFL bug into all.
