He's 20 years old mate and the season just gone he had injury issues.

I think potentially he's a much better CM than Bruno myself. As an all round footballer perhaps not as like i said I like Bruno a lot further forwards.

He’s young, sure so could develop well, but I don’t see anything special in him that suggests he’d be a better cm than Bruno, for a start has none of Bruno’s passing ability. He’s got a great temperament, composure and quick feet, but you need a lot more than that to be a top cm. Rosso is correct here, pushing Bruno back is’nt the best move, but he’d still be our best midfielder

I'm somewhat resenting the fact you're making me agree with SE85 here. Mainoo is still a kid. He's shown flashes of his passing through the lines from deep, his ability to receive the ball and evade pressure from deep is far beyond his years and we've even seen him demonstrate an adeptness in aerial duels and tackling.

Those deeper roles are positions that players who were a little more attack minded in their younger years settle into over time as their discipline and defensive nous improves. Kobbie definitely has the football brain for it. And it certainly doesn't hurt to have him develop some experience in that position. It's unlikely Amorim will be our manager forever and Kobbie's breakout season was in a midfield two under ETH anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
he is young, and certainly has potential, I just don’t see some of the raw material to become a top class midfielder, sure there are some aspects like composure he has. But he’s also quite slow, not great defensively and these line braking passes you speak of are incredibly rare. Either way, it’s not to criticise a player I would not want to be sold because of his potential, it was to echo that Bruno would still be miles better out of position in CM as Rosso alluded too than him or anyone else we currently have.

I struggle to get excited for any signings these but I do think signings like Mbeumo, Cunha and even potentially Watkins are what is needed right now. PL proven, reaching or at their peak years.

This. These are "midtable" players we are really hoping pans out. That we are paying our usual overpriced values does not help it either.

Only hope is they are both 3-4-3 players coming into a 3-4-3 manager settled in the prem. This is as good as we could do it for our search for goalscorers.

It will be interesting to see if we get a new midfielder this summer. No concrete links.

Considering we are using a 2 man midfield of which we intend to put Bruno as one of them with Casemiro, Mount, Mainoo and a bunch of youngsters, it would be low on their priorities.

ETH / Ineos spending 60m on Ugarte hasn't helped matters either. Good engine on him but nothing else about his game that impresses me. Can see why Enrique wasn't keen on him.

Doesnt feel like.a CM signing is going to happen without somebody leaving I totally agree.

I’d argue the ‘mid table’ players at those teams are the players that other sides aren’t looking to poach off them.

These were clearly the absolute best players on those sides by a mile, and signings that Fergie used to regularly try for.

I think it was process who said these signing aren’t exhilarating but they’re what we need. 100% agree.

Define an exhilarating signing?

Cunha and Mbuemo are both top PL players in their prime.

I don't think we could get better in their respective positions at the moment...

All the talk of lemal, and others of that nature, are completely unproven in the prem for example.

I think they're both excellent signings

Seems like a decent signing - perhaps a little expensive but that's just the market. Works hard but has ability, can cover two positions, knows the league, scores goals and perhaps most importantly, seemed to want Utd rather than using you as a stepping stone or a retirement payday
