Agree -we will have someone else lined up pretty quickly I imagine. He does look good but he was playing in the Dutch league. It was a slight gamble for that amount of money.

I do wonder if Marseille signing Paixao opens up the door for Farke pushing for us to sign Jonathan Rowe.

Given the high level of wingers we already have with a really high floor, the winger we sign will be with the intention of going all out to raise the ceiling by quite a way. That's why we are able to take more risks and lose out on a player like Paixao knowing that we are doing ok there anyway. I don't see Rowe as being at that level.

Immediately linked with Riccardo Sottil as an alternative.

Hopefully someone can tell me otherwise but on paper doesn’t look anything like the same standard of player

Schmidt is in his way evidently. He’s right sided. Byram is cover for both sides and is dependable - hence the new one year contract.

Farke hinted there will be replacement. So Im hoping for a more natural replacement at let back than Byram

Get rid of Schmidt Gruev Aaronson etc, obviously not easy because not good enough.
Bring in better, a left back too

Wonder if focus has shifted to a major upgrade to the attacking 8/10. Well not shifted but might be where they see the most improvement from the remaining options. Which then means Rowe makes sense as an option that improves our options and is good value.
