British and Irish spine

Whilst I'm actually very pleased with the players signed under Ineos so far, I am a little concerned that we are moving away from the English / British / Irish core of players we have traditionally had.

With thrnlikwly departures of Sancho and Rashford, I think we have just Heaven, Shaw, Maguire, Mainoo and Mount in the 1st team squad, with none of them being first 11 regulars.

Does anyone else agree we should aim to target the best English/ British players in the future, or is Nationality no longer important to the identity of a club?

No need for any racism, that’s poor.

It’s not racist, simply pointing out they don’t sound traditionally English names, they are ofcourse a perfect representation of multicultural Britain now.

Surprise surprise it’s blatantly obvious where you were coming from with that remark. At least have the balls to own your racism.

It’s hardly racist to refer to the fact some of the players are of African heritage / have African family names.

I think 'racist' is the wrong term to use - people just have different levels of humour and what they may find offensive. I think the original comment was just an old-skool type throw away comment which some folk will find more funny than others, and in about 100 yrs people won't really get because it will be more commonplace to have British surnames such as Wilson, Jones and Smith with Wong, Khan and Patel.

But no need to make more of it than necessary
