Rooney's not going to be able to play in any of England's group games at Euro 2012, so should he go?
I think we should leave him behind - not to teach him a lesson (though it wouldn't hurt) but for the good of the team as a whole.
We'd be a player down in the group, then if we manage to get through he'd be put back in at the expense of a striker that had earned his place.
I'll probably get 'd for this but his recent record for England is shocking anyway - let the kids show him how it's done.

^^^^^ As above, Capello has nothing to lose.

How much will Capello really care about building for the future, I think we will undoubtedly see the tournament full o the old stars that the vast majority of fans would like to see moved on.
How about going the Ebbsfleet way and we could join the England set-up and text/online/smart phone are selections/tactics, the one with the most is used and just have a motivator and general manager in for the games.
Ok, that may seem stupid, but how much stupidier than having an Italian that has already failed once at a tournament, that is leaving after this one and doesn't really care about the team, players or its future?

Rooney should not be in the squad - teach him a lesson

good article Bales
If we dont take Rooney:- And the players we do take are good enough to get us past the group stages - then they have earned the right to play the knock-out stages.
If we do take Rooney:- and the other forwards we take arent good enough to get out of the group stages, then it doesnt matter, he wont play anyway.

I would tell Rooney that he was going until the last moment and then let him down with a resounding bang.

Thanks oddiY
I think that a team is more than just one individual - just like Stoke in their first PL season, and Blackpool (almost) a team that plays for each other is worth much more than some amazing individuals.

Good points all round really, but when you say:
"Of course you do. And WHOEVER is manager at the time will think the same."
Why would they do it, I mean I agree they probably will but why is it so obvious? I heard Shearer on the radio this morning saying he should go, and that just convinced me I was right
