Spotify has created AI bands, based openly on the music of real (human) bands of the same genre, and then promoted those bands in its algorithm over the bands it has ripped off.

Some of this ripped off AI slop has millions of streams, largely by listeners who have absolutely no idea that they're listening to an AI band. All because Spotify is desperate not to pay artists a penny.

I don't see that as healthy progress, personally.

Who own the copyright?

Guy who pressed the buttons?
Google, Microsoft etc?
NVidia?

Always follow the money.

Ignoring the lack of human connection, it’s the equivalent of me going up to an artist and saying “paint me this in the style of this with this and that please” and then when they bring me the piece back I show it to friends and say “I’m really proud of this one. I described what I wanted him to do really well and they did it. What do you think of my artwork?”

How is AI going to help artists? It's literally stealing existing work and rehashing it without any reason other than to generate money.
