Martin Skrtel.....

Time and time again he is a liability in defence. It was shoddy marking today that caused the goal, he was awful at spurs, (yes I know he was out of position but he still lacked any basic defensive skills) he was even at fault for letting Carlton Cole score last year when we lost 3-1 to West Ham, CARLTON COLE!!

He's a defensive liability, for the last three years whenever there has been a situation where it has been up to him to clear the ball, put in an important tackle, even make a simple pass I haven't been able to look because I cannot trust his ability one bit, he'll either give the ball away, put the ball out or give the opponent an opportunity to score. The chap is simply awful.

The 50 mins I saw of Coates against spurs showed a hundred times more promise than Skrtel ever has and a composed head/ball player at centre back which is exactly what we need next to Carra when Agger is absent.

Kenny should see this more than anyone. Having played and managed the likes of Lawro, Hansen, Thompson and Nicol. He should know that Skrtel doesn't cut the mustard. The sooner he is gone the better. This isn't a knee jerk reaction, long have I thought Skrtel was punching way above his weight even wearing the Liverpool crest and I have no doubt that other people think the same. I say fast track Coates as soon as possible and make sure Skrtel is nowhere near the team sheet or subs again.

Exactly, Kenny sees this more than anyone and I agree with him, Skrtel is a good player and did very well yesterday.

I think the goal was more to do with Hernandez's movement. I thought Skrtel did OK, he seems to be a scapegoat when we fail to win. For my money though, Suarez should have scored two goals yesterday and Hendo had a free header so if the blame goes anywhere it should be our poor finishing.

If Agger (my first choice CB) doesn't stay fit, we should go for Gary Cahill or some other proven CB in January.
Carragher/Skrtel always looked very shaky to me.

I've said this since Havant and Waterloo or whatever they're called... Skrtel is garbage

Against Everton he did well and yesterday aswell he performed, it was just the pace and trickery of hernandez which anyone would have difficulty with.

We should seriously lay off with all the stick we give to Skertel. He was solid yesterday, won all in the air and marked his strikers well until the last, when little "pea" escaped him.
I think he is probably one of the best "second choice" center back in the league. The important term being second choice. Lets just stop making him a scapegoat.

Yes he's lost his confidence at the moment as witnessed by his solo run and shot at United's goal. If he was on top form, he would never do this. I'm serious.

Agreed OP.
