52,000 Gates..

Sorry the title has a hint of Wummery, but its really not, justa light hearted poke to make you read

Are there any similarities that Rovers can use to take heart from Newcastle's Situation in 2007-2009 and ours today?

I apologise for any factual inaccuracies here as I don't know the "ins and outs" but the way I see it the following happened to Newcastle

Bought by someone no-one warmed to/liked
Appointed (by the fans opinion) at least one bad Manager
Major Board changes, loss of historic members
Spent Little/No Money (Net)
Fan Protests against ownership/manager (Sam )
Poor Results

So here are Rovers, can we now look forward to:
_______________________________________
Relegation
Appointment of Good manager
Instant Automatic return to Premier League
Growth and improved Position

Or, are these just similarities and co-incidence, without the attendances and therefore income, an international status stadium, etc. Can Rovers even hope to emulate this? Whatever the fans thought of my source of cheap sportswear, at least he turned up to games!

MJ We have never had gates of more than 25 k only when the big clubs or a local derby comes around.Present capacity is around 31 k give or take a few.As for the manager well enough has been said about him and the new owners, its just a matter of time, and im afraid time is running out for us!

I know Star, and that might be the deciding factor, Maybe Someone can confirm the attendances for NUFC in Championship? (Attendance was a self confessed tease )

I'm just looking of a glimmer of hope that MAYBE the owners can turn it around. We all laughed at NU for chopping and changing managers, now people laugh at us for not.

The difference is I think that the owner Ashley is a self confessed geordie nut with a Newcastle heart and he went the wrong way about things, for them now its on the mend.We have no Rovers nuts because Jack has gone (r.i.p.)

Nah, he's a Tottenham fan (says he "supports football" rather than a club though).

Each situation's different, but I think we'd have stayed up if we'd either:
a) booed the players
b) given them massive cheers.

Neither happened and we just meandered along. Booing might have given them the kick up the a**e they needed, and cheering might have spurred them on

I think Ashley's initial problems were he thought he could run Newcastle like his cheap sports shops. He didn't get the fans on side early doors and perhaps never fully will.

Changing Hughton for Pardew was a weird one also.

They seem to have stumbled across a winning formula at the moment, bit of pace and quality but also a hard working togetherness. Whether it lasts or not time will tell.

I wouldn't put it down to miraculous ownership or management particularly though...

I have not followed the Geordie saga but I always saw Ashley with a Newcastle shirt on drinking with the fans etc,I really thought he was nuts about Newcastle.

I think he just liked a lager or 12

Pardew has a clear plan!
1. He has introduced a passing game to keep possession.
2. This season he has increased defensive coaching.
3. He has moved on the old guard - Barton, Nolan, Harper. Alan Smith may be next.
4. He has brought in skilful French players - in the mould of N'Zonzi.
5. He has put his faith in Ba. So far he has been on top form, but everything depends upon the condition of his left knee.
