Aussie to ref Final

Well said L.L.....

In the old days they judged the best referee by the amount of games he has had or G/Finals etc.

In todays world there is the technology there to show who is the best in his field whether he has been doing the job for 2 years or 12......
What technology can't split is, which referee lets the game flow and that's where the second referee helps out by mostly looking after the play the ball area, I haven't seen our NRL players handling the ball or hanging on in tackles as much as I have during this 4 nations, and the quality of the footy has reflected it....cheers

The plain fact is that Thierry Alibert a neutral ref should have reffed the final. I would put money on the fact that on Saturday night after the final the main talking points will be the decisions the ref made or didn't make. Also as well if England win i bet he will not be a ref at any of the SOO games next season. That will be his punisment for not giving Australia enough of the 50/50 calls. It will be in the back of his mind that he has to let Australia win, but without being to blatant about it.

To the diehard RL followers on here, this may seem trivial. Everyone wants the best most competent ref available - but the sport has to maintain it's professional perception to outside viewers.

The perception to anyone wanting to invest into the game is vital - this makes the sport seem amateurish. I work with colleagues who mainly follow yawnion ... this sort of stuff just gives them the ammunition to belittle our code..................

Sorry i'll stick to my earlier comment .... it's just wrong - especially for such a show piece event....

The sport would look more amatuerish by appointing a ref that was not the best, when reffing the worlds best players.

All refs are neutral when reffing a game, we have this argument with Ganson reffing Saints and Silverwood reffing Leeds, we will have to disagree but I believe that the ref's are professional and where they are born never affects when they blow the pea.

I would not support this game if I thought ref's were bias, people's perceptions must be based on their own values not that of the officials.

I still believe the biggest problem with the fans perspective on referee's in Super/League lays with the rubbish commentry, all they seem to do is pick the eyes out of every decision made.....even when after the replay the ref is proved to of made the correct decision these boof-heads make excuses and then blame the poor ref for a bad signal so as they still look correct...

A good game of league is when you are leaving the ground win/lose/draw and you turn to your mate and ask him....who was the ref.

As L.L stated above....if I for one minute thought this great game wasn't referee'd straight down the middle with-out allowing for human error, I wouldn't bother attending or watching one single game......I feel I'm one of the lucky one's that takes the result for what it is and if you lose one on the merry-go-round, then you will pick it up on the slippery dip......

Rabbitoh/LL ..... bigger things in life to disagree over and get hett up about. We have our views on the matter - they're different, but hell thats what this site is all about.

I thoroughly respect your opinions, it's just we have a differing take on it.

I'll still be sat in the stands of Elland Road cheering on the Poms, who i predict will win by 10 !!!!

Sometimes it is better to simply stick the hand out and say congratulations, then to whinge on about the ref did this the ref did that.
No-one likes losing but geez I hate listening to people who whinge all the time and the only thing worse then that is people who listen to the commentators and believe it as gospel then go on and whinge..

Lets hope we have a great game and not a mention about Ceechin....

I honestly feel sorry for you blokes if you have to listen to the garbage that comes out of the mouths of those pair of pelicans broadcasting the game....absolutely bloody pathetic to the point of embarrissing themselves the tools....

Souths .... i have to concede the ref had a good game (a very good game actually). The best team won by a mile, which is a shame as i thought we'd be closer than that.

As for the Sky commentary team. I've said it before on a previous post, for me they're utterly embarrasing. After the conversation on here, i listened out for what they'd spout during the game. They were irritatingly garbage. The only decent (and honest) commentator i thought was the Irish lad (Carney).

The commentary team on sky have been around for soooooooo long now, that they believe they ARE rugby league. Like all things, sometimes you need to change things to improve them. Perhaps Sky should start thinking about it.

DSU, Yes Ceechin did well in the end...managed to get through with-out any major hic-ups, except for rugby leagues grey area of around the ruck but there comes a time the players have got to show a bit of pride in the game and when a tackle is made...get off him.

I was watching some footage of an old game back from the 70's and Souths were winning this particular game against St.George by just a point or two, towards the end of the game a scrum was to be packed down from a South's knock-on and I couldn't believe my eyes..........with no stoppage of the clock back then the South's players where jogging over to pack the scrum when they could of slowly watched the clock wind down.....they were men back then and ran for the scrum because it's the right thing to do..the players today should do something similar in the ruck area.
