Can Hearts Sustain a Title Challenge?

I hate everything about Hearts, but I think it would be very exciting if they could mount a serious title challenge this year. In Kello they have a very good goalkeeper who can pull off some amazing saves, as he showed against Rangers at Tynecastle last year. In defence Webster and Zaliukas are reasonably solid as well and they have a decent left back in Lee Wallace. In midfield Skacel can score goals and the wingers of Templeton and Driver can take players on. In attack they have two decent goalscorers in this league with Kyle and Sutton. It seems that Hearts have actually learned that to challenge the Old Firm, they must buy players who are decent in the SPL. They are starting to add some depth to their team, which is usually the reason they fall at about December/January. Celtic lost the league last year with 92 points, and the Old Firm are still improving. Can Hearts reach over 90 points, seems unlikely. But I am hoping for an interesting title race this year.

(Why can't I tag this article for Rangers and Hearts aswell?)

I think they are in the best shape they have been for a few years.

A very good start and they might be up there.

I think they will be 3rd with less than 10 seperating them from Celtic in 2nd

Think they will be stronger than last year and gap between 2nd and 3rd won't be so big (12-15 points). They're first X1 is decent but don't think they will have the strength in depth when injuries/suspensions kick in.

"Regarding the tag query, I had the same problem with my free list article. If I tried to put more than one team, it said "invalid post more than one team selected" but it had spaces for other teams??"

Read the home page.

"We have been getting a lot of articles created about not much in particular and usually not related to sport. These articles are also being tagged with the maximum number of teams, which we feel is an abuse of this feature. We have therefore decided to temporarily restrict article creation to a single team name tag while we implement a better means of managing 'off-topic' articles."

Thanks for reading the homepage for me

Hearst - possibly a title challenge. I think they need a couple of strikers though. Kyle is too injury probe to rely upon, Sutton is pretty average, Calum Elliot hasn't progressed at all over the last few years and the same can be said about Gary Glen. Stephen Elliot looked decent but only on the odd occasion.

hearts will capitulate as the fodder normally do

You mean Kaunus should sign Eremenko and loan him to Hearts!

I wouldn't write them off too quick but as decent as most of their new signings are, I doubt any of them could get in the Celtic or Rangers team - regularly at least. Gives them a decent stab at qualifying for the group stages of the Europa League.
