Suarez,racism, Blatter etc

As we all know Sepp Blatter got the racism thing completely wrong, although in the UK weve done more to eradicate racism than any other country. Ive been watching football since the 80's and saw and heard some pretty disgusting stuff. Ive seen everything from the NF recruiting outside Stamford Bridge, banana's been thrown by Everton supporters at John Barnes and Ive heard monkey chants at more or less every ground in the UK.
Thankfully nowadays supporters wont stand for these people and theyve more or less crawled back under their rocks but there is still an under current of it around.
The UK is pretty angelic compared to alot of European countries such as Spain where racist chanting goes on. Ironically two of the worst countries are Poland and Ukraine where their hooligans hold ultra right wing beliefs. Blatter is certainly going to get his eyes opened next summer when he hears those lot kick off.
Moving onto Suarez. If he has knowingly made racist remarks to Evra then I dont want to see him in a Red shirt ever again. If its the case that its been misconstrued and wasnt meant a racist insult then I think he needs to be taught what's acceptable in Uruguay certainly isnt acceptable in the UK. As always theres a knee jerk reaction from the usual half wits who already have him down as the new Oswald Mosely.
Lets hope its all resolved quickly so we can all carry on talking about football and not trying to be the moral police. I get the feeling that a few of the people on here who are "disgusted" at Suarez have made a few racist remarks themselves in the past.

if someone called Suarez a buck tooth Uruguayan would there be a case to answer. NO... this bloody race card is beyond a joke

The guys that went around murdering in white hoods were racists, a throwaway remark is not its human nature to say things that hurt in the heat of the moment...fatty, baldy, ginger etc etc etc

everyone needs to grow the hell up

If Suarez said anything that alluded to Evra's colour then he is in the wrong and should face the punishment that could be meted out to him.

We create far too much fuss about these things.

There's many layers of racism and in no way has Blatter said that racism is tolerated but use of racially abusive language is just a verbal insult. It should be treated like other verbal insults on a football pitch. When two players are trying to wind each other up its unfair that the race card can be used to ensure severe punishment for one party.

I think Blatter is correct here. The term racism is too broad and i see these incidents just as name calling rather than racism. There's some harsh insults out there that are not racial and i don't understand why these are tolerated without question but even a word that could be misinterpreted as racist gets this kind of reaction.

Thats right KPMG. Em, what if Evra didn't - can't - speak a word of Latin-American Spanish? What if Luis spoke in fluent Uruguayan -style Espanyol? When, where and for how long has Evra been a student of that blend of Spanish? What qualification does he possess in that language? Just silly questions, you understand. JimmyThered
