Samba will not solve our problems!

We conceded mostly from set pieces last year. Samba cannot mark everyone. The problem is the defensive organisation, I may be wrong but I do not think Samba has exceptionally strong leadership/organisation skills.

Also anyone else feel its extremely harsh on kos and djourou that they are both likely to lose their places after an excellent season.

Ummm, it's clearly not. That's why I asked you to elaborate on it.

Calling a bunch of fans 'the least intelligent' and then not explaining why is hardly explanatory.

not least intelligent.. least intelligent in football my friend. unless you can name a group of fans who collectively have less of a clue of football and the wider footballing world than your good selves? i thought not. anyway.. some of us have work in the morning.. what do you have? primary school?

i think lack of intelligence goes hand in hand with basing your opinions on what you have read in the newspapers as opposed to actually witnessing things first hand, chronic.

I can't remember which game exactly it was but until about late October Koscienly had had a 100% tackle success rate for like 2 years. Back to the original point I agree a key problem is a lack of organisation in defence at set-pieces but I do think Samba will help as I do feel he does have that commanding presence. I mean he was appointed captain of Blackburn by Big Sam and I doubt he would appoint someone without a commanding presence as his captain.

Spurs fans are clearly less intelligent than any other team's fans. Anybody who disagrees with this is a wrong. Every season you delude yourselves to thinking you're better than us, you'll finish above us, you'll attract better players than us etc.

I have an exam tomorrow morning, so I can't spend much longer on here showing people how thick and clueless you are.

Completely disagree with this post on so many levels.

Samba is exaclty what Arsenal need and dont have, he is a defence leader and an absolute rock at the back, stick his ahead on anything, Arsenal havent had a player like that since the likes of Sol Campbell and Tony Adams. He will definelty tighten up Arsenal's defence from set pieces. When the ball comes into the box Samba will go make it his, Arsenal dont have that. Great signing and Im glad Wenger is looking at players like him.

I know Arsenal fans look at Vermaelen as this type of player but Im sorry hes a good defender but I'd rather have big Samba, I think them two will compliment eachother.

And yes, Koscielny and Djorou played well, but it wasnt good enough was it? Arsenal shipped far too many goals, if you are happy to settle with this level then you will never win the league. They are all good defenders in their own right but just lack extra class to be up there.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I completely agree we need a player like Samba, i'm just not sure he's quite up to the standard we need to challenge for the league.

As an overall defender he is most certainly not better than kos or djourou, though his style may improve us.

I hope like someone said Wenger is at least willing to switch the partnership depending on the opponents.

samba is exactly what we need. Kosc is a good defender no doubt, but needs told where to be and what to do. like i said in an earlier post we need someone who can just put their laces thru a ball nott another 'ball playing' centre back we have three of those already. Look at any great centre back partnership, you have a ball player and a thug, classic example, vidic and ferdinand... terry and carvalho (last last season). this is arsenals problem we have to many similar players who don't compliment each other.

I take it u didnt watch JD play for the last 2 month of the season where he was absolutely shocking. Even for the swis against england he was very bad.

Are you serious?! Players can go off form you know. I take it you didn't watch him for the previous EIGHT months.
