aparently today in America they celebrate "thankswishing" or whatever they call it and they're supposed to eat turkeys today ( yet another excuse for the yanks to get fat ).
But the rest of the world should just be thankful that the americans did not invent football ( or soccer as they call it ) and they have very little influence within FIFA today.
Otherwise there would be "time outs" during matches , adverts breaks every ten minutes , the clock would be counting down to zero ( with no stoppage time mind you ) and would stop every time there's a break in play , subtituted players would get back in the match several times over ,etc...
Right. Happy thankswishing then to all the yanks out there. The rest of us are indeed thankful that baseball ( yes baseball ) is your national sport because if we had to sit through 3 long hours of watching players scratching their groins , spitting non-stop , chewing on tobacco and moving their hats back and forth , I think we would all go crazy

Basketball was invented by a Canadian.
It took 20 years of playing before someone thought lets use a hoop instead of a basket, so a ladder had to be available to get the ball.
Tactically, netball is a better game.

Breaks in play are needed in basketball and hockey because of the pace of the sports. That comment is laughable because under the current time keeping system you get between 45 and 55 minutes of actual play during a football match so whats the point of a few minutes of stoppage time?
Whats wrong with baseball, by the way. It's their national past-time for a reason... they invented it, it's something relaxing to watch during the summer and going to a game is an event in an of itself. It's spending a day at a cricket ground.

I would like to see the clock stopped in football for the ball going out of play; throw ins and corners, think it would be good to give us all that bit extra playing time.
