2011/12 will be a season where United CAN NOT do their usual and start a little slow.
5 of our first 9 fixtures are against the top 6, our season will be defined in the first 3 months. We can either take points off each of the rivals or loose points to them.
17/8 West Brom
20/8 spurs (h)
27/8 Arsenal (h)
10/9 Bolton (a)
17/9 Chelsea (h)
24/9 Stoke (a)
1/10 Norwich (h)
15/10 Liverpool (a)
22/10 City (h)
SAF has to ensure that the team is play at it's best from the first second rather than moving up through the gear over the first 5 months.
This fixture list is just silly to be honest.
Hit the ground running

I agree I think its a conspiracy to make United lose.
I think the F.A have got together with Sepp Blatter and have taken massive bribes to nobble Uniteds fixture list.
I mean Arsenal at home???
Thats so unfair!

I was just looking at the games of the top 4 and unbelievably I found that all the teams are playing all the other teams home and away this season.C'mon, how can that be fair.

We play all teams at home and all teams away.
Seems fair enough to me
Oh, Claaenal? What has Sepp Blatter got to do with United's domestic fixture list?

Hmmmm I prefer playing the big teams away first then home but it seems we're playing Tottenham, City, Chelsea, Arsenal all at home in the first half of the season.
It;s just the second half of the season is where you know how the table is going to finish more or less and that's when having them home games vs your rivals are vital.
Tbh, if we managed to win the league with such a poor away record last season, Im sure we can win it this season as there is no way our record can be as bad this time round. Having said that, Chelea and City will improve vastly this time

We start slowly because just about every pre-season tour is first and foremost a money spinning venture and to spread our great name even more globally. Look at the US schedule, flying back and forth across the US. No serious opposition apart from Barca. On the plus side everyone sees action and United finish the season more strongly than anyone else (along with Everton - haha!).
So yes we need to get it right this time and having the big games and especially at OT may be just what we need !!

I really couldn't care what order games come in. Yes there is some argument that teams in Europe should mayeb have home games after an away trip, but hey ho it all balances out.
I do despair when I see Man United fans wanting an easy game here, and a minnow in Europe there.
Personally I want BIG games against BIG teams as often as possible, I want challenges, our players raising their game, SAF pulling tactical masterplans out of the hat....

I'm not saying it's not fair like you all are making out. Read the article and you will see that I am saying United need to be at the best from the start and not start slow like they normally do.
Every season managers and pundits say that the table doesn't mean anything until the first 10 games have been played. Considering we play all the rivals in the first ten games we could be in a precarious position by the end of october if we do not play well.

But we were 15 pts behind.
Regardless of how it finished it is a FACT that in the last 3 seasons Chelsea have picket up more points than ManU.
