Hi lads Villa fan here. What a very, very strange week indeed.. it seems thats both of our boards appear to be incredibly incompetent at the moment. Just wanted to ask you all a few general questions and fancied a bit of discussion. Rivalry and hatred of each other aside, I feel for your (real) fans who have been disrespected I think. cannot blame you for seeing eck as a traitor. Im still undecided about his tactics because He is not stupid, he dominated scotland with rangers and has been 50/50 success and failure at blues. Do you think eck would have stayed if you stayed up? And also, how would you take someone like o'neill leaving the villa and going straight to blues.. or any other manager directly moving from us to blues?
Dion Dublin hit the nail on the head.. how can we possibly just accept someone coming straight from our local rivals with open arms? I feel the board has not taken rivalry and hatred into account. Its by far not the best choice for the club. Also who do you believe will become your manager and who would you like?I think di matteo or hughton are the two best candidates.
We are a laughing stock and im personally disgusted with fans taking their season tickets back.. because you support your club through the thick and the think, no matter whose in charge. I follow the villa home and away and to all you noses who follow blues home and away, we all know no one man is bigger than our clubs.
It all feels like a nightmare!

Chris Hughton for me
As for your manager, good luck, you will need it.
As for swapping managers in the future, unless your manager just won the prem tha fa cup the league cup and the championjs league with you then no thanks.
Your right, no one man is bigger than the club but the timeless rivalry that will always be there is.Keep your managers and to be honest with you, apart from Gardener who is a nose, we should leave each others players alone as well.

Well we dont know how he would do at Villa.
But at Blues he had his favorite players they was (not inc defence) Larsson, Bowyer, Ferguson and Gardner and Jerome
Thats 4 midfield and 1 Striker.
Look at the Strikers we had Derbyshire, Zigic, Phillips and Martins who all played a part in our Cup Win at various stages where McLeish was not as cautious and played 4,4,2 more and actually like used more than one sub and not left late like 5 minutes.
Yet in the Prem he stuck with Jerome, on his own (because he could keep his midfield happy by playing 5 of them) and this meant Jerome could not buy a goal.
We would also play Fahey (McFadden would have been picked if not injuried) to join those 5 midfield players even though he is not good enough for the Prem and is a RCM who can play RM.
So we had a propper LM with pace who can cross and won two man of match in four games at World cup in Beausejour, but who could not get games for us because he needed to settle to the Prem? (same reasons Zigic not used much, same reasons Zarate was not a few years ago etc).
We then also had Bentley and Hleb who again could not get games, playing them meant we lose a bit of defencive edge and McLeish would have to drop one of Larsson, Bowyer, Feguson or Gardner and McLeish never had the grapefruits.
Bottom line he built a side that worked hard for each other that made us hard to beat, that would defend as a unit. and it comprised of his favorite XI and he would not make many changes and drop them incase that effected morale and team spirit that his side was build upon.
i would say that 75% of his signings since being with us was a waste of time because he would always stick with his favorite players.
Oh and i expect at least 1/3rd of them to be comming to Villa

Straight question. If, as Birmingham City supporters, you were told Billy Davies was going to be your next Manager, what would your reaction be.?

do you all think its a high possibility we could go down. I personally think not due to one man.. darren bent. Otherwise, we are gonners.

Honestly i would be gutted.
Billy davies would be a long term plan if we had to rebuild on peanuts and so the aim was not to get Promoted but sort out the mess financially and then rebuild.
I dont think he is the best man to get promoted for us at first ask, he would be ideal if we had to sell off all the players from last season and work on a budget.
If he did take us to the Prem i dont think he would keep us up.
For automatic promotion it has to be Houghton i think he would get us up and give us a chance of staying up.
For long term plans though looking ahead further than just get promoted and hopefully stay up. I would have to say that Curbishley would be the man.
I also think that Big Sam could have been a long term plan but he is with West Ham.
For me i think i would go for...
Curbishley, Houghton or even Grant.
Di Matteo or Zola i think we would need a lot of cash if we was to stay up with them, once/if promoted.

Bents no good up front on his own with no service except when the keeper hoofs the ball to him. You wont go down but equally you wont enjoy the season ahead of you. Painfull is a word that springs to mind remembering AM,s football.

Grant Banjo? Avram Grant? The toad with the personallity to match a brick?
You serious? If so why?
He had better players than us at his disposal and they went down with games to spare!!!
Big NO to Grant from me.

Grant for me Tactically makes McLeish look shocking...
Grant is such a nice guy though like Bruce was, and a bit of a yes man like Bruce yas.
So lacks the foot up the backside attitude that sometimes a team needs.
He is not a great motivator as McLeish or Sir Alex is.
As i said McLeish's only flaw would be Tactics.
If Grant came in with a number 2 who can bang heads i think it would not be so bad. I would like Carsley to be a coach at some point and a number 2.
I think even if we had Francis back with Carsley on the team and even McManaman as part of the scout system we would do a better job than Big Eck and his bafoons did

Curbishley then Hughton but happy with either. Big Sam would have been ideal and my first choice but he's gone and I suspect he was the Board's but they couldn't afford to sack and pay off McLeish, either that or they were loyal to McLeish and thought that if he stayed they could hold onto some of the players.
