Now the best defender in the EPL, no doubt.
He's the real captain of the team, organises, motivates his teammates intimidates the opposition and scores goals on top of it. His friendship with RVP is also beautiful to watch, these guys are having fun when playing these days. Team can rest again during the week as the youngsters will go to Greece and prepare to beat Everton next Saturday. These rests are crucial now that the fixtures come quick, we didn't get that advantage the last years and that was probably part of the collapses later in the season.
We're (a bit) back where we belong but Ramsey doesn't cut it as creative midfielder for a top team. That's where a new player needs to come in, we need a quality injection..the more I see the Gunners improving the more I am convinced that Hazard would do miracles with us. Gotze will bring what Arteta, Ramsey etc alraedy give us, maybe better but nothing what is somehow there alraedy.
Anyway, I enjoy watching the Gunners again, hopefully someone knocks on the door and AW will not be able to resist strengthening the team in January. Could still turn out to be a great year.

kompany is better than him, but he is perfect for us. he has enthusiasm when he makes a tackle and his aggression is awesome. he's also a goalscorer! what more could you want?

I think to call Vermaelen the real captain does Van Persie a disservice. I was skeptical of a striker as captain, but he does lead on the pitch, organise players, communicate. So far I've been very impressed with his captaincy.

Don't think Vermaelan is the best defender in the league. IMO, Kompany, Kos and arguably Vidic are better than him...

I'd say Vermaelan is up there at the top, and I'd certainly say that he's the best possible cb for Arsenal's style. I think Koscielny is in the same mould, and will get to Vermaelan's level, but right now I rate Vermaelan higher.

I think Vidic is a bit over it by now and Kos is not yet on Verm level but indeed growing.
About Ramsey, I did see the match and he is good not great, not special when we need it

Both part of a defence that hs let in more than most in the premiership. Certainly the 18 goals the defence has shipped in 7 away games is more than Spurs have let in all season.
So they are possibly on the level of the Blackburn or Wigan central defenders, but certainly not anywhere near the top central defenders in the prem.
Delusion of the highest order as usual.

Ramsey and Arteta have both improved with every game - bring in Oxlaide-Chamberlain on the right and Walcott do his last 20 minutes impact player job and we look pretty good.

You think Kompany plays for Arsenal? You didn't notice that Vermaelan was injured for most of the season and since he's been back we've only let in a couple of goals in the games he's played in?
