Man U have been swindled by Spurs in the past over transfers. Both Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov are average players for whom we paid over the top transfer fees, simply because Spurs dug their heels in.
Both players looked outstanding in a poor Spurs team and I fear Modric is more of the same. He's a decent player but not the Sneijder kind of signing who could move Man U to the next level.
For the same price that we paid for Carrick, we could have signed Mascherano, who is a far better anchor player than Carrick. In the same manner, for slightly more than what Spurs are demanding for Modric, we could sign Sneijder who is a true world-class player!
So, SAF, please don't go for Modric.
